Just reading a previous post about whether or not the roof should be open at Colonial, which got me to thinking...

Has there ever been a game played at Colonial where the roof was open and it did rain. Given the current AFL policy, the mental picture is kinda surreal (which is sad considering that AFL is a winter sport).

In Crows v Saints last year half the ground was in sunshine and the other half was in shade

It was almost impossible to see the ball when it moved from one to the other.

Just leave the rooof closed for ever.

Shame about the grass though, or lack therefof.

I remember a day game between Melbourne and West Coast last year when it drizzled a bit when the roof was open.

I've only been to one game where the roof was open - an Ansett cup game this year between Geelong and Port. It was unusual sitting in the Sun at Colonial. I think its silly if the roof is closed and its not raining outside.
