No, Murphy is not worth more than Kerr in a trade. Murphy has finished 2nd in a B/F. Grats him. The kid will be a star one day, and I'd love to have him at WC. But Kerr has been runner up in the Brownlow twice, top 5 a third time, and is still only 25. When people talk about elite midfielders in the AFL, Kerr's name gets mentioned. Murphy's doesnt yet. Were it not for Kerr's somewhat colourful past, we wouldnt even be having this discussion.

No. Granted Kerr is a good player but he comes with huge baggage both off-field and now on-field as well (constant suspensions, question marks on his ability without Cousins and Judd).

Whilst Murphy is a young leader who has just finished ahead of a 99 goal-kicking full-forward in his club's B&F and only turned 21 a month ago.

5 good years from Kerr + on field and off-field baggage or 10 good years from Murphy with great leadership?

That's why he said Murphy is worth more in a trade, not that he is a better player.

Wouldn't even do a straight swap of Murphy for Kerr let alone include pick 6.

At any rate the suggestion that him barracking for North means that he won't re-sign with Carlton is hilarious!

The are numerous AFL players playing in team they didn't barrack for as a kid and I can't recall too many changing teams based on that alone.

At any rate North have not got enough to get him.

Marc was a priority pick and to suggest he is worth anything less than a pick in the top five in this years draft is ridiculous. He is easily worth that and more.

So the question is what is Norths best offer?

I doubt you guys could come close to satisfying us in a trade.

The delay is solely to allow Carlton more flexibility if they should sign a big name player during the trade week (eg Warnock)....

My mail is that Murphy's management is unhappy with Warnock being offered a $1.2 Million contract (starting with $350 K in 09') whilst Murphy can't get more than $350 K in 09'. Obviously the contract will be back ended but with Fev, Judd & now Warnock generating sizable contracts, there is a sticking point. Essendon have tentaively thrown $380 Plus towards Murphy as he is unhappy with Carlton's offer.
