Well, shortly after offloading you know who for you know what, have the players really got the message? It seems to be tradition for our players to get caught up in trouble in the off season thanks to not controlling how much they drink. We got rid of Fev because we could not tolerate it anymore and I was really hoping that the rest of the players would get the message and pull their head in. Instead it's just different shit same smell. It just goes to show that stupid people never learn :thumbsd:

There are 2 ways to look at this I guess. First I think it would be naive to think that cutting Fev would mean the rest of his gang of miscreants would suddenly see the light and go straight. They have been infused with the same lack of respect for the leadership that he had and it will take a few more trade periods and delistings to rid ourselves of them. When it has gone on so long it takes a while to purge them all.

The other way to look at it is how dumb (or lacking in respect for the leadership) must these guys be to do what they did at that time. They have just seen us suspend 3 guys from a must win game for being "late" for recovery, then saw the best FF in the comp traded because of behavior and heard the talk that management has made about changing the club. And then to choose not to heed those warnings is mind boggling. It is like them playing russian roulette (which is stupid enough in the first place) then seeing the strongest among them die, they pick up the gun, reload it and start playing again. Un-flipping-believable.

What usually happens when the message is not heard, understood or complied with? The message gets louder, the penalties more stringent and the consequences multiply. I would be absolutely staggered if there is any further transgressions by not only these 3 (or 4) but by any on our list.

There goes our first month and a half of 2010. Am seriously getting sick of the bullshit down at Carlton.

thinks it time for us fans when the family day comes. show them players our own leadership and let them know how its making us feel. we r sick n tired of this.

its time we did something about n make our presence felt at our family days, as committed fans who all want this to stop. hurts so much we love this club so much, i just wanted it to be the carlton football club like in the good old days.

i'm not gonna let these w***ers destroy our footy club, wish i was in charge of this club, i would put a stop to this. nobody would ever tanish the football club we all love again.

i'm starting to question weather judd has wat it takes be a leader of a club, i dont think he's good enough to handle all this

Yeah I reckon we should bring out the lynching mob. I mean Betts was drunk prolly walking home or trying to get a cab. There was a blitz and all the police were after was numbers rather than ppl breaking the law as they boasted about with the numbers later..I mean ffs police state or what!!!. Now Im not gunna suggest that also in the equation he happens to be Aboriginal.Nah that wouldn't happen here. Underpants ,no charges layed ,obviously they were very tasteful.I know its the off season and I know were all bored and waiting..but can we please stop the lynching.

No, Eddie was suspended for one match. He played against Brisbane in the Elimination Final.

The message worked in one way. The finally organised a venue where the public would not see them. Obviously the crew had no problem calling the media however.

I doubt the message to avoid alcohol altogether went out at all so yes the message that did go out worked, it just wasn't the right message.

We could have had someone go overboard and be looking at something a lot worse.

This was unofficial and as such the club have little input aside from telling them to take it easy. None of us would allow our employer to send somebody along to one of our parties while we were on leave. At best the employer would warn you that there must be no incidents or there would be consequences. They probably did place some trust in Judd being there, to look after the rookies.

I suspect Judd is a fine footballing leader but not much of a social leader. He really does come across quite reserved and does not have a confrontational style. I don't know of anybody at the club that could handle it any better. We are of course assuming that Judd said nothing, tried to tone down nothing, and we are expecting that a bunch of drunken 20 somethings will sit up and take notice of him anyway. I suspect Jonathan Brown would grab the unruly by the collars and pull them away from the action, and pop them one if they tried to take a swing. That's not Judd and fair enough too.

If Judd did try to settle things down, he is hardly going to come out to the media and dob in his teammates for not listening.

It's been years since we have a brute of a captain, who instils fear into the playing group, probably not since Big Nick or Jezza. Others since then have been pissheads themselves or don't have a reputation for being overly physical.

What I want people to remember here is that these guys have been training the house down thus far, our skill level is up, our comaraderie is up. All of these incidents have pretty much stemmed from the same event and it was supposed to be private.

The Casboult thing is outrageous. I understand a rite of passage and all, but this is circa 1980 crap. Did they also make him smoke cigars and get him a cheap hooker they could demean?

It's not the fact that it came out that is the concern, it is the mindset that after all that has happened, they will take the chance. It is the mindset that they earn a lot of money and have the ability to blow off steam, and that they want to blow off steam rather than give everything over to their football.

Times have changed. Every 1% damage that alcohol binges do to you, that's 1% in preparation that probably half the other sides in the AFL that are 100% committed and united have up on you, and 1% that you have to find through natural talent above and beyond them.

I have no doubt these guys want to win but I think it is more about personal glory, rather than team glory and any particular affinity with the club. It's bizarre because we have several club staff around who are all about passion for the club but they can't seem to instill it.

I tell you what, if Wiggins was a lock for our best 22, I would make him captain and let him crack some heads. He is by far our most passionate player but he is also our strongest player. I also see Jordan Russell heading the same way. Kreuzer is the next choice for a future captain. I don't see him getting caught up in the whole glitz and glamour of red carpet appearances and he is a track leader already. He just needs to find a voice.

What are our other options right now though? Thornton? Jamison? Waite? We know Waite has passion for the jumper, that's a good start I guess.

Yeah, the problem lies with our rascist Police:rolleyes:

There no problem with that, the drinking is a bit much especially if they can't handle it. The cigars are no problem.

I am involved in and trying to follow so many threads on this issue I missed this gem of a post. It was that stupid comment from the spud that highlighted it for me so I guess even from the most inane posts some good can come.

Congrats on an excellent post that beautifully encapsulates my thinking on this.

Proudly part of Carlton's crest is the latin phrase: 'Mens sana in corpore sano' ...which broadly translates in English to 'sound mind and sound body'.

In 1903 coach Jack Worrall wanting to send the players "a message" suggested to the committee to adopt it, and it was.
Club Motto

:(

Tattoo it onto the players like I suggested in another thread.
