Has this been Carlton's most 'nothing' pre-season ever

Terrible pre-season; thank God for the AFLW! I know everyone says it's only pre-season, but it must affect membership and sponsorship. If pre-season is reflected in the real season then I reckon that I might just consider hanging out in a cave somewhere in the far-flung reaches of Mongolia.
You might want to check in here at some stage during the season, otherwise your absence might not be noticed.

no different than last pre-season

Can't expect glowing write ups while getting pantsed on field, so there's that. Bolts' job isn't under any threat so there is also none of that kind of chatter. Also, none of our players have ****** up off field over the off season so there has been nothing to write about in terms of that. Not the worst outcome all up.

I think we've taken the guesswork and interest out of ourselves. We expect to finish low, we admit we are rebuilding and going young. Everything suggests that this is the case. There's no, let's try for finals or top 4 and failing, that would be a story. Everything has been very out and open and honest which is great. We've had enough disappointing false hope. Admittedly it does make things uninteresting but I can watch the game for reasons that won't disappoint. Mostly watching for the growth of the youth. When the general public start to see that our young players start to make an impact it will be out in the media and interest will brew.

I'm happy with us quietly going about out business. I'm sure we'll make big news again come trade period. The only way lowly clubs seem to generate much media interest is when a coach is on the verge of being sacked, otherwise everyone knows our story and there's no news here.

Everything that's come out of Carlton the last 18 months has been the scripted never ending cliches. I don't care to hear about it anymore, however it is exactly how I want it.

There really should be no hype around us and we definitely do not want any controversies.

It's almost pointless looking at the sports pages of The Age and HS, they're simply not interested in the Blues one iota.

Why should they be? If there's nothing interesting to talk about, there's nothing interesting to talk about.

The club has barely said a peep, don't lay blame on the media. Sick of this victim mentality.

The body of work we show in the season proper will speak for itself. Year two of a rebuild isn't as shiny and interesting to media types, but crucial for supporters and the club.

The media can GAGF'd. I'm sure they will dredge up some story to say how shit we are at some point this year ... only to realise we have to repair 20 years of damage and that we are only 2 years into that reno job ........

lot of hype about the Saints and Melbourne now...not so long ago nothing was being said about them either....our turn will come but who cares if the press aren't talking about us it's only ever bull%$#* anyway...i'd rather get my Carlton fix here:)

Media or Journalism?

The football media , if they had one iota of creativity would write some educated articles

They don't just have to report news

They can write about our latent talent, the talent who've been absent due to injury, and so on.

They're just lazy, pure and simple

Don't try and make excuses for their ineptitude. That's even worse!

Have loved every minute of the quiet preseason. Club playing the long game and not getting ahead of itself for once. Bolton was everywhere this time last year, I'm thinking he would be very wary of over exposure. We've had no off-field controversies. No key injuries. Judd's back at the club. Can't see us winning too many games this year but we've got a list full of exciting kids and we're doing things the right way.

Kind of exposes the Aussie football media for what they are, that is LAZY.
No indiscretions or injuries or anything that gives them an easy excuse to write something, where the main story is already front and centre and all they have to do is write about the basic facts.
Forces them to actually have to be creative and think of something to write, which clearly they're incapable of doing.
They could write an article about our latent potential, about how we have a lot of first round picks aged under 24, or about the quality kids coming back off long term injuries like Pickett, Sumner (2016), Smedts etc, something like that, but NO, CFC are for the too hard basket.
Write a small article about captain Murphy who is coming back from injury, and about Cripps' injury.
LAZY LAZY LAZY

Could be a blessing in disguise. They could write about our lack of skills, our excessive fumbling, poor decision making and how far off we are.
That would really depress me as I can already see it for myself.
I DONT need to read about it.
Bad enough hearing how good Waite is going (Got sweet F.A for him).
Seeing Eddie feature in TV adds with the likes of Dangerfield (Got sweet F.A for him too).
And seeing how fantastic Zac Touhy is going down at the cattery. (Almost got sweet F.A for him).

You can probably tell I'm in a bad mood tonight!

P.S. Please don't grill me. Just let it go through to the keeper.

Probably but

Marchbank looks like a real find , will allow Weitering to go forward @ times

My only disappointment is I wish the club would put our best team on the park for our game @ PP. 2 years in a row we have played our 2nds

Has this been Carlton's most 'nothing' pre-season ever? At least as long as I can recall. I am talking about media coverage.

Probably down to two reasons ...

1. The media and footy pundits expect us to finish low down the ladder, so why talk about us?
2. We have had few if any off field player indiscretions, which is a good thing.
**** the press and the dribble they print...I get all the info i need here ..I find that i respect the opinion of quite a few posters here more then i do the tv pundits...
