Schwabby said Sylvia was on their do not draft list.

I've been on the fence on this one. Hase racks up the stats, and he does get first hands on the ball but I'd suggest he is well down the list in terms of being able to hurt the opposition on a consistent basis. He has too many ordinary games.

Where other elite midfielders are good in traffic, Hase gets caught too easily. He is very susceptible to a half decent tag. He was tagged out of the game by a solid but not superstar Lynden Dunn on the weekend. He had all of 2 kicks. If Bell retires he will be under more pressure.

I'm not doubting his talent just his body. He has never been 100% fit. It's ok to say just get him 100% fit but it's not going to happen.

We have to find another two decent midfielders to take the pressure off him and then we can make a better assessment. If you stuck him next to Judd and Kerr he would shine like a beacon. Sp perhaps the best thing is to give him a more realistic contract, and find him some help.

Agreed.
But we should give Schammer Crowley Headland or a Foster first chance in the centre rather than Carr Solomon Haselby or Bell. Let them have a crack and if they do well it would take a lot of pressure off Haselby and co.

i understand why people want to keep him, but my argument for trading hase is that we need good young midfielders coming up. and there are two very good young east freo midfielders which we could get, if we traded hase, who admittadley is a gun, but is almost 27, injury prone and is demanding a pay increase, and murphy for a nice draft pick, why wouldnt freo look at that? he has been a great servant, and people will say its disloyal, but why should the club suffer because we held onto a player who was a loyal servant, when we could have traded him and got a player that turns out to be a jimmy bartel, or a daniel kerr. the nature of his injury means he will never be what he was four years ago. palmer and masten will be guns for a long time

Bartel was picked up with 8th pick and Kerr was 18. We don't need to necessarily trade to get good picks, just use the ones we have well (Melbourne laying down next week would be nice too). We are going to probably end up with pick 8 or so (unless we do something silly like jag a spot in the finals) so that's plenty high enough, though not high enough for Masten or Palmer I feel ... so maybe you're on to something. Anyway, nobody is going to trade a seriously high pick for Hase anyway and, hypothetically speaking, anything lower than top 10 wouldn't be worth it.

A fit Schammer maybe. Crowley Headland and Foster (at this stage) would do nothing to improve Haselby's lot. He would have to do even more work. Crowley, Headland at least and Foster with his size body at the mo would do nothing to get the ball out and would be nothing but defensive liabilities. No, we need a fit Hase, a Bell replacement (pref. bigger but just as skilled and as hard a worker ??) and someone like a fit Browne who could play inside and out. Crowley Headland and even Foster at this stage are 'outside' midfielders only.

That seems like a strange thing for Schwab to say, things like that should be kept inhouse.

Hasleby doesn't need any surgery, so he should be cherry ripe for a big summer. If he is still up and down early next season it will be a bad sign.

Priddis is the perfect example. Looks good with their midfield taking the best opponents but wouldn't get the same numbers at Fremantle.

Trading Hase is madness, IMO.

Who are you suggesting we replace him with??? We are struggling enough in the clearances as it is, and you want to trade our best in and under player? OK, so he hasn't been in top form of late. This is true. Perhaps he should get a bit less in his next contract.

But if Bell retires and we trade Hasleby, then you can kiss 2008 goodbye before it's even started.:(

Haze said tonite on CH10 that he'll decide were(Club) he thinks he can play his best footy and then act accordingly.

Yeah he had his poker face on didn't he. Things like the channel ten contract would also factor into his planning, he's not going to get a media deal at a Victorian club.

???

Their bald kid goes alright.

nathan jones, yeah he is ok, and i mean moloney is ok as well, travis johnstone can be great, sylvia can be ok, but for these guys to come along they may need a hasleby who gets the ball to feed it out to them. im just saying that other than mclean they dont have any star midfielders, i think the rest are good or servicable, but none will grab a game by the throat

Hang on footyeater, they either only have Brock McClean, or they also have all those other guys. Those other guys include some pretty high draft selections, so trading Hasleby (a high draft selection) for a decent pick may not be such a brilliant idea. Draft picks are a gamble, Hasleby goes okay.

i could see melbourne taking him, they have no midfielders other than brock mclean really
Wasn't James McDonald AA last year?

Melbourne has an awesome list if they're all up and running. If CC gets the Melbourne gig and they click, that list could make him look very good. They're missing MacDonald, Rivers, Bartram, Maloney which is a fair slice of talent. Whelan and Bate are also in their top 22. And Aaron Davey had a shocker of a season.
