I started a few games into this season and it is going to take me ages to get a decent side.

It is my 3rd season. When i first started i struggled big time but some of the lads on here gave me great advice.

You need to click on the promotion link which is on the bottom right hand side of page where your ladder is. It isn't updated until Mondays. By the looks of it you might need to play a qualifier but you'll know more tomorrow.

Yeah i did click that and it appears i will have to play a qualifier. Lost a game last week i shouldnt have because i went away and forgot to put my team in so i think i played injured blokes (3 or 4 of them)

well my form continues to improve in a way. Lost 2-0 to the top team and im still currently sitting last with no chance of moving a place higher. so far ive finished 8th, 1st and now 8th.

I like to list guys at 4-6 pm Thursday Melbourne time. This means they are up for auction at 8-10 am Sunday Sweden time. Sweden games are at 10am Sunday in the top-6 leagues (where the cash is).

Had to dig up this quality peice of advice. I believe i made a killing listing players at that time. I sold a 20 year old excellent winger + defender with passable passing for 1.6m AU. I think that is a really good price in my favour with the markets not favouring sellers.

I think it may have been Weaver who also said you should MOTS your last game?? Chances are, i will have a playoff game the week after so should i do that?? PICing the last game so i can MOTS the playoff would be better surely?

Yup, PIC your last league game (if you are certain you'll win) and then MOTS the qualifier for sure.

Hattrick is down at the moment for a server upgrade or something so it could be tough to organise a friendly unless you do it tomorrow morning and its working by then. I also cant see the promotion table so i dont know if i fluked my way into auto-promotion.

I had no team entered for my friendly this week becuase when I logged in last night it was down.

Looks like no training for my potential star midfielders this week

It's important to read the announcements on the right hand side of the screen under server status. There had been an announcement for over a week that they were moving the server and it would take at least one full day.

I lost training once before due to a Hattrick error so from now on I just set both lineups at the same time.

This is now where you sign up to play! This competition will be played on the last friendly game of the season ie before the 1st cup match. All teams from every division, newbie or seasoned manager are encouraged to join.

Rules.


1. Off-season challenge between England-Oceania will take place on the 28-29th of November 2006 (matches in England will start at 21:00 Ht-time and matches in Oceania will start at 04:00 Ht-time).

2. All teams who have registered in this thread by 21st of November 2006 19:00 HT-time can participate.

3. Pairs will be set by 22nd of November 2006 at 01:00 HT-time. If both countries have the same amount of teams signed - all of them will be paired according to ranking (teams will be ranked according to following criteria: 1. League; 2. Place in league; 3. Points; 4. Goal difference; 5. Goals; 6. Random)
The number of matches will be equal to the matchups of the least signed up for country.

4. To decide home or away, the ties will be alternated as we go down the list - so, first matchup sees the English side at home, the second matchup Oceania will be at home, third matchup England, fourth Oceania, and so on..

5. Cup rules are recommended, but not required. The result after 90 minutes is taken as the result.

6.The points will be counted as follows:

Win - 1 point
Draw - 0.5 points
Loss - 0 points

7. Only games that happened will be taken into account - that means we will ignore the teams who registered but failed to arrange a friendly.

8. The deadline for accepting friendlies will be 26th of November 2006 at 23:59 HT-time. Friendlies that are accepted later must be announced in this thread.

9. The organizers reserve the right to adjust the rules according to specific situations (not sure who the organisers are from Oceania - probably GMs/mods).

I am one playoff win away from promotion to Div V, should i sell a 23 year old with outstanding playmaking and excellent stamina? Or just keep him for next season in a higher league (hopefully)

Whats your team ID? I guess its ok to wheel and deal if you are improving other areas of your squad you aren't training. Wheeling and dealing trainees probably isn't a good idea. Depends what you are training? You could sell the Outstanding mid if you have a bit of cash and could sell him to add to your funds to buy an even better mid a few levels higher. It wouldn;t hurt to do it that way if you are going up. But it all depends on what your weakness' are.

It looks like you'll have to play a qualifier. I think, and don't quote me on it, that once the qualifying games are locked in, you can see what division the winner of the qualifier goes into.

I don't see any harm in staying down though to be honest. I delayed going up by sitting in div VI and strenthening in my squad until i thought my team was good enough to stay in div V when i went up.

I just compared my team when i first went into div V with your current ratings, and mine were probably margainly better. I ended up finishing 4th in my division. Its hard, i guess waiting til you see who you have in the qualifier and go from there. You can suss out all the teams in that division and compare ratings to see how you'd match up against them.

I doubt you'd be able to get a better player for less. Unless your current player has high secondaries. Especially passing if he is a midfielder.

Not sure on what to add about the stadium. Its difficult to weigh up when you first start out. (I'm still trying to find my feet) You have so much to spend the money on, but you get so little of it. Wait and see what others think about the stadium.

It even tells you what division your club will promote into and who you'll play in the first round of the cup which obviously changes but it's still good to know.

I think it's better than Hatstats although I would because Hatstats doesn't cater to those of us who have teams in Division 6.

I'm one of those people that don't like it when teams purposely stay in the bottom division but it's easy for me to stay that because I've always been in the bottom division myself. In my case it's not my choice.

I'd follow Ed Geins advice. After the game tomorrow have a look at the league that you'll go into should you win the qualifier. The site I posted and Hatstats can show you the ratings that each of the 8 teams got this season so that will give you a rough idea as to how you'll go.

As for the stadium, I upgraded to 15,000 at the start of the season and sold it out every home game. I've recently upgraded it to 18,000. Ideally I would have it at least 25,000 but I can't afford it.

Enough advice from me. Unlike yourself I need a big win tomorrow to promote or else I'm stuck in Division 6 for another season.

Sainter i am the same which is why i havent sold any of my good players and i dont want to "tank" in order to stay down. I always want to win and progress up as soon as i can.

I won a thriller today while PIC'ing. 5-2

It was 1-0, 1-1, 2-1, 3-1, 3-2 ('87), 4-2 ('89), 5-2 ('90).

Good luck sainter, hopefully we will both be playing playoff matches this week.

RoosterLad, i had a look at the division you'll go into if you win you'll qualification game. You should be able to finish 5th i think. The top 4 are far too strong. (3 of them get over 200 hatstats).
