Pot. kettle. black. I know coming from a Dons supporter (thats not the point)

Is there a poorer set of club traded players than this group of mis fits? All honourable players in their own rights but none you would consider needle movers.

Dougal Howard (Power)
Jack Carroll (Carlton)
Liam Henry (Fremantle)
Jack Macrae (Dogs)
Mason Wood (Roos)
Jack Silvagni (Blues)
Tom De Koning (Blues)
Brad Hill (Hawks via Freo)
Sam Flanders (Suns)

Throw in alternative signings (SSP's, academy kids) and its evidence they are a collective poorly built list.

Ant Caminiti
Cooper Sharman
Michiti Owens
Marcus Windhager
Max Hall
Callum Wilkie
Rowan Marshall

bolded
are the genuine hits
I have changed your post to reflect reality,
More than a 50% hit rate.
I was going to point out how long they have been on the list but you probably would miss that point.

lets put it simply, for a club gunning for finals, how many role players can one club carry?

How many of these are better than c grade players?

We often over rate our own and thats fine, a more balanced take is all im trying to provide here.

I feel you went too far and I rebalanced it. All the players highlighted are either b grader and above or add value day to day.

as I said, my point was how many of these are needly movers?

Not many and the Saints are carrying a lot of them. This is the definition of mediocrity, surely you can admit you would prefer to see Garcia in the middle than Macrae? you would prefer to see Isaac Keeler in the side than Sharman or Caminit up forward? Why is top 10 pick Alex Tauru being kept out of the side? you make room for him if your half backs or half forwards are struggling?

Geewizz, they had some serious outs.
If you watch them, they are on the up, their fundamentals (defense, contested) are getting better. Let's see where they end up.

First game for Wilkie in a long time where he has not played 100% of game time.

Bloke might miss his first game since his debut in 2019

Garcia plays midfield more than McCrae so your info is wrong, the reason we let Steele go was to allow Garcia to play more midfield time.

Keeler isnt on the same level as Sharman, and also play a different position. Keeler has also just come back from an injury.

Alix Tauru is developing in the twos, we now have the ability to develop players in our stand alone VFL team.
This has been done before, both Philipou and Wilson spent time in the VFL to develop their craft, throwing a young kid to the wolves is how you ruin them (Jack Watts).

Do I want Tauru to play? Sure. Do I trust that a professional run football team knows more than me and any BF post? I do.
So, I will back the club and see how Taurus progression goes over this season.

Also need to move Wood and Carroll to the second section since they weren't trades.

Plus, writing off two of the trade list as poor additions after 9 games on the list is a bit rash.

Zoned out after this, to be honest. Macrae four games for the year, Garcia all nine. TOG vs Suns, Macrae 66 to Garcia 80. Macrae started on the bench, while Garcia started in the middle and was the first non-ruck to touch the ball.

to be fair, forget where they were brought in from, are they needle movers for the list? may have gone harsh on the academy pair but the rest, mature aged &/or from other clubs, comparable to where they seem to be ranked is everything wrong with the fan base.

The ones I bolded are a pass, the rest? questionable

Some have, some haven't. Some have just filled a role.

Mason Wood has been a needle mover for the club overall. Cost nothing but has not only been an excellent wing and pinched hit forward, he's been vital for developing our kids off field and settling them. If it wasn't for Wood, Nas would have gone home after this first year.

Carroll was a DFA. Injured last year, filled a role this year. He hasn't moved the needle but no one would have expected him too. He also hasn't done anything detrimental on field. There arent many small defenders who are needle movers anyway.

Howard is another, not a needle mover but just done a solid job. Probably paid slightly too much for him (depends how much you deem appropriate for Paddy Ryder since it was a joint trade) but I dont think having a competent 200cm defender on your list is a negative thing or holding anyone back.

Henry has been disappointing due to injury. Been good when he played, he just hasn't played enough. Still only 24 sot time to turn it around depending on how much of an optimist you are.

TDK and Flanders are 9 games in. They havent changed our list immediately but it would also be short sighted to write them off for their duration. It's why they weren't traded in on 9 game or one year deals.

If anything they've probably underachieved.

The list make up has been in decent shape for a couple of years, and the off season inclusions you'd expect would take them to the next level.

Odd that they aren't in the top 6

Hard to judge us when we're currently missing about half a dozen of our best players with a tough early fixture.

If we can get our best team back on the park with an easier fixture we will look like a top 6 team, just you wait.

Your next games look even harder…

Hope is not a strategy.

So how would Geelong be going if they were missing about half a dozen of their best players like we are smart guy.

Your next games look even harder…

They look hard but hopefully we will get some of our best players back for them instead of being 3 quarter strength.

Some talk yesterday about the saints and Ross is just media speculation to fill air time.

Well, yes, NAS is 1/4 of your salary so I guess he is 1 quarter of your strength.

Then you can drop some players who don't deserve a game like your out-of-form backup ruckman, that bit-part role-playing swingman (although he did snag a few goals last week) and the fat has-been goalsneak who I assume is on minimum pay at this stage of his career.

Why are you so angry? Its sad

Im not sure if there was every that much Hype around them? I don't recall anyone making outlandish claims that they would be top 4 or anything, but they have been exceptionally disappointing regardless.

The "hype" was that with the money spent on big name recruits, particularly TDK, they ought to have delivered.

Kinda, but their off season inclusions would rightly propel any team to contending level

Some would argue they are one of the best lists on paper, if they click, could be unstoppable
