They have had a few draft misses, there most most talented players they got from other clubs Dawson/Rankine.

Walker old & Sloane basically retired.
Weak spine on both ends and a midfield which is pretty vanilla but not the most damaging players.

I don't think they ever did rebuild.

Made a grand final. Had a camp. Been somewhat competitive ever since.

They need a scorched earth rebuild now though.

Yeah you are clueless. 2020 was a full rebuild year.

The rebuild just failed. Poor recruiting from Hamish and co partnered with our absolutely shit coaching group meant that the talent we did possess hasn't kicked on.

Dawson and Rankine have become infected with the virus that is the AFC off-field team and voila, you have a team facing another full rebuild.

Complete fail. Haven’t addressed their midfield, ruck or attacking defenders in 6 years down the bottom.

Been carried by their senior players and getting close to nothing from their youth. Soligio was good tonight but he should be a first choice midfielder for the rest of the year.

Rachele stagnated. Fogarty hasn’t developed. Thilthorpe it’s to early and he’s injured.

The rest, complete failure.

They seem to have put too much effort into getting small forward types. Rankine is a talent and hard to pass up, but when you've ready spent big draft currency on Rachele, it probably takes away from other areas.

They need to get some key defenders, but should be looking for spillage from other teams, unless there is a standout early in the draft.

Most of these players looked good last season. I see no reason why they can't bounce back.

I think too many of their players ...
(1) Seem to lack footy / team instincts.
(2) Are only really good at one thing. Dawson will always try to kick long, Crouch will always try not to, Rankine and (increasingly) Rachele seem to see themselves as receivers only.

Plus there is the peril of drinking your own bathwater. This is a legit serious headline from The Advertiser last month:

Can you explain their midfield to me?

It's atrocious

It’s working class, not star power.

Get enough of the footy, clearance actually top shelf esp around the ground where they can get numbers in, but simply not enough out the front of the stoppage, so opposing defences get enough time to set up behind the contest.

They clearly have talent across the ground. They are absolutely screaming out for some A-grade midfield talent and that has to be the focus this year. At present I can only see two potential A-grade midfielders in Dawson (already A-grade but needs to lift) and Soligo (potential is there).

What frustrates me most is how Nicks has turned Adelaide from an attacking force to a slow and safe team. We've seen it in almost every game this year, Adelaide do nothing for about 3 quarters of footy, realise there is a game to be played and finally flick the switch for a last quarter 'almost' comeback. Saves the game from being an embarrassment to an 'honourable loss'.

If they can play that way for 4 quarters rather than 1, they will win more games than they lose.

It will be hard to replace Walker going forward though. He looks cooked but he was so important for them last year.

Problem is that Taylor Walker is old & slowing down needs replacing who is there next forward Thilthorpe seems a competitive stop gap doesn't seem a star, best he has done is 18 goals in a season. I like Fogarty but he is clearly a good 3rd tall.

There defensive unit has big question marks considering they have been rebuilding for a while.
