Have you ever crashed your car?

15 months ago, I smashed my car (in the wet) into a light-pole on the side of the road, and it came crashing down all over the road, stopping traffic for half an hour. The car was a write-off, but I was okay.

Apart from that, my driving has been first class.

What about other people?

lol

never crashed my car....came close once or twice, but never crashed it.

In the early days of my Ps I "bumped" into a parked car attempting a 45 degree park that just wasn't on. Left a note on the windscreen but the bloke told me not to worry about it as it had plenty already which relieved me greatly.

Mistook the accelerator for the brake when attempting a 90 degree park less than 5 hours into my Ps and managed to find the brake in time to avoid crashing into the car in front of me

Nothing since and I've had my license for almost a year now, just be wary if you see a dark blue vs commodore around

Ive crashed my car twice. Once was Christmas night, me and my mates were on the way to a xmas party and i had only had my license for around 6 months. We had been looking for this place for like half an hour and everyone was getting restless. Then through a gap someone shouted is that it, everyone turned there heads to try and see this street sign and me being the idiot looked aswell??

Next thing i know is the car has bumped up onto the kerb which gets my attention real quick but its too late, i crashed straight over one of those small roundabout signs then onto the roundabout but i regained control and went round the roundabout the wrong way. Lucky no cars were around...i was a little shaken so my older cousin took over the driving. The good news though that the sign was the street we were looking for :D Front end was smacked in a bit but nothing my dad couldnt fix :D

Second time was with this shoddy as hell Toyota Corrolla. The brakes were absolutely shocking and you had to pump them to get them to work. It would have been red stickered had i ever been pulled. Anyway i was out and about and there was a nice car in front of me and we were both turning onto a main road at a give way sign. He slows and i attempt to pump the brakes but this time it aint working and i just ram him fair and square right up the ass. Im real pissed off by now but the car in front continues onto the road so i assume he's going to pull over once we get onto the main road. But alas he keeps driving. I think WTF? How didnt he feel me ram him up the back end??? So i quickly take the next exit and drive home quick smart.

Maybe it was a stolen car or some european who didnt know what to do?? :D

Slammed into the back of someone. Wasn't paying attention. Proved that you shouldn't drive if you're sleep deprived.

Actually the damage didn't look that bad IMO, but plastic parts are expensive and the insurance company chose to write it off. The damage was less than the insured value, but by the time they pay me out and auction off the wreck they lose less money than if they repair it.

The upside is I wouldn't have got what they gave me if I sold it.

Time to change your signature I think :p

I did a similar thing several years ago. Pretty insidious, sleep deprivation. I hadn't slept due to the hot weather and fell asleep at the wheel. Luckily my mum was in the car with me and screamed at me. I woke up and slammed the brakes but still ran into the back of another car.

There was a funny side to the accident. The other driver was named John Holmes. When I rang the insurance company, the operator began to laugh and couldn't believe I had ran into the back of a porno star.

Yeah ... had a couple of minor accidents in my old Laser.

Neither of them my fault.

But now I have a new car so ... hopefully I don't have any misfortunes.

cheers ... Kaz :D

I was the same after an accident, Blues_Brat. A woman came through a Give Way sign and collected me. The car (Magna) was written off and I got more from the insurance payout than I would have for a trade or private sale.

Scary thing about the accident was I was driving back with some friends from a cemetary after a funeral service, luckily no one in either car was hurt.

You'd be thanking your lucky stars that he didn't ram into the back of you!

Haven't had any accidents, but three of my good friends (all P platers) all had accidents in the space of about two weeks. One friend wrote her car off when a truck crashed into the side, the other two had cars drive into the sides as well. Everytime the other driver (adult, full license) was at fault. What does that say about the safest drivers then??:p

I havent crashed my car yet but my mate has.We were at a party and were all pretty pissed so i allowed my mate to drive us home as he had no license to lose if he got caught drink driving. We went to a mates house and started beeping the horn trying to wake him up and then went speeding off when his Dad came out.As we went through the corner I began to realise that for some reason my mate wasnt turning past the pole rather he was going straight for it.My car flattened the pole straight to the ground.Still the funniest thing ive been involved in I was laughing for hours atleast until I sobered up and realised how bad the damage was.

I haven't crashed my car at all, but then again, I dont' have a car to crash.

I've had a couple of very minor accidents in my father's car, so let's just say I'm an excellent driver (and modest too), but very shoddy when it comes to parking.

Better you running into the back of John Holmes, than John Holmes running into the back of you!!!

On the topic, Ive had 'bingles' while driving but never done major damage to either the car or myself when doing so (scrapes, bumps).

Have been fortunate to have quick reflexes at times when other drivers have thought my lil Gemini looked like a good target. Quick evasive action and more than a little luck has seen me safe when things could have turned nasty.

I wrote off a car in pretty spectacular fashion over three years ago as a P plater, only licenced for 3 months.

It was dusk and I was at one of Perth's worst T intersections. Me on the stop sign, waiting to turn right into the main road, in peak hour traffic. It took forever for a break in the traffic but when the moment of truth arrived I pulled out and promptly stalled in the middle of the intersection. The car coming round the corner slammed into me and that was my night down the tube.

My passengers called my mum and dad, and tow trucks while I sat in shock in the car. Being on a particularly busy intersection - in the suburb where my school was - I was just so embarrassed and humiliated. :o (Especially since I'd hitten a really hot guy's car, thank god it was worth about as little as mine)

At least I was able to laugh the next day when I realised I had written off a poo brown datsun which I hated driving anyway - maybe dad would buy a more upmarket car instead. Wrong!! The next month dad brought home an orange datsun which became my car for the next two years.

Needless to say, I learnt my lesson. ie. go with the traffic lights :D

I haven't crashed my car personally, but I've seen relatives and friends get smashed up pretty bad. The worst of them all was my friend, who was coming back from an all nighter and feeling rather sleepy, ran straight into a telephone pole, or as he likes to put it: "the pole failed to get out of the way". Yeah, that was pretty bad and he had to get his nose reconstructed after a few days at hopsital.

The other bad one I've seen was an L driver, who trying to turn right, ran straight into the side of the car waiting at the traffic lights. The look on the guy's face was absolutely priceless.

I'm not even 15 but I've sort of crashed a car. I was backing out and I went a but to far and knocked out a post. It was our's though, so I didn't need to write a note.
