I'm particularly interested in hearing from members outside of Melbourne, especially those of us in Queensland.

I renewed 2 memberships the week they went on sale with the promise they would arrive before Christmas. That didn't happen and I'm still waiting for them to turn up. Membership department was apologetic and helpful but could say nothing more than that they had been sent early in December (around the 12th).

I'm wondering if others have had a similar problem, in particular those members in Qld. I know the club will send out replacement packs (have been told by membership dept that won't be a problem) but don't want to ask for that unless my memberships appear to be the only ones affected.

Thanks all.

In the UK; got mine late this week.
This is a bit troubling. The other guys who responded are all in Melbourne. Even though I might have renewed before them (as I said, I did it the week memberships opened) being in Qld it makes sense they got theirs first. However, I would have thought we'd get ours before someone in London.

It shouldn't take that long to arrive, but it CAN happen.

You may have needed it as a Xmas gift, and that's a real shame if it wasn't there but now I'd say wait till the end of this week, aus post should be right up to date after Xmas (considering most business' are closed) and if it still hasn't arrived call the club again (or better yet, contact them on Facebook or twitter, it works better for nearly every organization) and tell them your waiting.

MFC said they sent it on the 12th, so it should have taken no more than 5 days to arrive. Waiting almost a month suggest it may be lost in the mail so they'll said you another one.

Chances are the MFC did send it (but of course they are doing the cards differently this year so mistakes can happen) and I'd wager it's Aus posts fault so I'd be patient with the Dee's and see what they say. It co,es up a bit on here, and every time it's been resolved from memory.

Thanks for the reply. I have no doubts the club will fix it all up; they've already been very helpful but always better to but I was curious to know if this was something that might have affected other Queenslanders or was it just us. Given that we had two memberships that were being sent to different addresses in Brisbane I thought it might have been a bit more widespread. There were stories about a courier failing to deliver a large number of parcels over the Christmas period and the club did allude to some issues in that regard. Wasn't sure if that was the issue or not. Thanks again, to you and everyone else, for the help.

Looks like I'm only the second who hasn't got theirs yet. For the record I'm an MFC/MCC member so I don't know if that affects it at all. Weird thing was I did receive the latest 'Heartbeat' mag but now I can't remember if that came before or after my renewal.

I'm really not too fussed, the fixture magnet is handy but hardly essential and I don't wear the member scarf so usually give it away if I end up picking it up. Actually didn't the club have a thing last year where you could donate the money from your pack back to the club or something? Maybe I'll email them and tell them to do that again this year.

I renewed my MCC/MFC membership in August and received the pack a couple of weeks ago.

Still waiting on the AFL one.

Well, I think I'm ready to assume that both membership packs have been lost in the post or in some way mishandled by whoever we use as couriers. Making matters even worse is that every person in my family who is a member of a club other than Melbourne (one Collingwood, one GWS, two Geelong and one Western Bulldogs) has received their membership packs despite signing up months after I did.

Mods can lock this thread down now if they like. Thanks to everyone for their replies.

I will just add, in closing (in case someone from the club happens to read this thread), that I have contacted the club to let them know the memberships still haven't arrived. End result; the bloke I spoke to at the membership dept said they would be sent out again - to arrive within another two weeks. Yes, they will arrive. However, I'm not particularly thrilled that after being guaranteed that they would arrive prior to Christmas there isn't any attempt made to get them sent out asap. Also, I've had to repeatedly chase them - despite having made contact several times by phone and Twitter - when simple customer/member service would have seen them make contact. The club wants to increase membership which means that the membership department will be dealing with a whole lot more than 40K people and a whole lot more expectations. Up to this year we've had automatic payment of our memberships but that won't continue next year.
