Re: have your say on Ross Lyons

Given that GT had been dismissed, I think RL is a great choice.

That is based purely on other peoples descriptions of him and what I have read.

None of us were at the interviews, none of saw the psyche tests, nor were even aware of what these tests were designed to find out.

We all know he played an important role at Sydney and that he has been part of the team that got them a premiership.

Despite the GT sacking, I do have faith in the club to find the right man for the job. Ross Lyon will do a great job.

My belief is that GT would probably have acieved a better result in 2007 than RL, but I have to accept that the club has acted in the best interest of our long term future. They are structuring the club in line with other successful clubs and they are getting the best personnel available to fill the positions vacated by GT and his assistants.

It may take only a year or two for Ross to catch up to where GT was (in terms of his knowledge of the players, the strength of their relationships, the ability to motivate and get the best out of them, and the knowledge of their weaknesses as well).

I dont know how we can "have our say on Ross Lyon' when no one really knows anything about him. Giveit 2 full seasons and then see what the general view is :)

Re: have your say on Ross Lyons

Rossy Lyon is very experienced. In his playing days he was a HFF for Fitzroy and was very good but succombed to a career-ending knee injury and was forced to retire at the age of 24. He is also very experienced in the ocaching caper. He was at Richmond as an assistant under former Carlton great Robert Walls in 1996. In 2000 he moved to Carlton. He spent four years at Carlton both as an assistant coach as well as the VFL coach where he worked alongside David Parkin, John Worsfold, Wayne Brittain and Denis Pagan.
At the end of 2004 he moved to the Swans as their midfield coach, working closely with former Fitzroy teammate Paul Roos.

So as you can see, Lyon has had alot of experience and he is worthy and ready-made for the senior coaching position at the St Kilda Footy Club.
