Yes it was a negative place, but only because hawthorn wasn't traveling that well.

I remember sifting through all the threads after each loss. Thinking it will be great reading the change in attitudes when we start to win. Only to be kicked out before it happened. :(
50/50, there were some very uneducated opinions being pushed around, not just because of our standing on the ladder either. A loud minority, if you will, chose to fly off the handle at the slightest inkling of a loss.

Thankfully it's nothing like that anymore.

HHQ was a good idea that went off the rails due to poor management.

My colleague Number 33 and I were regular posters on this site - and we added great diversity of opinion and quality of debate. HHQ was an opportunity for some posters to rally support for some crucial issues, such as sacking Schwab, getting rid of Hook, removing Brereton from football matters, delisting Holland and replacing Dicker. Interestingly some supporters that resisted these necessary changes are still posting on other sites such as Big Footy.

In the end, I understand that the site was under pressure from the representatives of several (then) players and administrators who did not like the way that they were discussed on the forums. Supporters who offered differing opinions were often effectively silenced, including myself (despite not actually breaking any of the site's rules) - as groupthink began to take over. Thankfully this has not happened here on Big Footy.

Unfortunately the HHQ site was moderated poorly (though a little better than Mighty Hawk). Moderators submitted to HFC direction and many moderators were more interested in getting personal gain via getting paid positions at the club than in allowing for discussion and debate. Thus the site lost all semblance of an independent forum.

In the end, it just became a site for an inner clique of blind club supporters who spent time congratulating eachother on their supposed wit and wisdom both on the site and when they gathered in a drunken group at the MCG to watch games. It became laughable. I understand that they are still doing this behind closed doors. It is not particularly inclusive, nor is it Hawthorn-like - but good luck to them. I wish them well.

I really did think that the people on HHQ were seriously up themselves. Thinking that they were the greatest when in fact they were stuck up and really pigheaded.
As what FG said all they wanted was to get paid positions at the club.

Don't post on HHQ, so I can't judge.

Enjoy posting on MightyHawk and certainly enjoy posting on the Hawk Board here on BigFooty.

As others have said in this thread, I don't see the need for posters to not be respectful towards any of those three sites when at the end of the day, we all are united in our love of this great club.

i dont remember this dude i just remember you being a complete flog and you pretended to post as the other flog but you are just the same person plus you dont even barrack for hawthorn

Unfortunately, HHQ lacked the ability to discipline posters who used abuse as their only way of addressing posters who they lacked the ability to debate.

Thankfully, Gary, Rusty and the guys have not let this occur here. It is refreshing to debate issues without threats of physical violence that were sometimes made in private messaging on HHQ.

But your current status at HHQ is banned -for abuse!

You seem to be doing a lot of back-tracking & crawling here gump - is that because you were actually banned from HHQ (before it went private) because of abuse to other posters and you are worried about the same thing happening here and so you would lose your platform so you can continue your hate campaign against dicker!

I actually think one of the main reasons that site went private was because of posters like you and 33, your colleague  .

Not sure what you mean by backtracking and crawling.

I was banned. Interestingly, the abuse came from other posters, not from me. Abuse as an alternative to argument is all too common on football forums by immature posters. It was probably easier to ban me than to moderate the site properly and enforce non-abuse rules for posters who were often personal friends of the moderators.

It also removed the heat that some club officials were apparently putting on moderators to reduce the (arguably valid) criticism that some employees and board members were receiving at a time that the club was performing appallingly both on and off the field.

So, in effect, the participation of 33 and myself probably did indirectly contribute to the privatisation - just not for the reason you suggest.

May do with a mod on this site also threatening to ban you last night.

Oh thanks for clearing that up gump - you were banned while hhq was still a public site because other posters were abusing you - so it was all for your own protection!

And then getting rid of you kept the club happy because your criticism was so valid!

BTW, do you actually believe this?

Are you on medication ?

HHQ has it over all sites quite comfortably to be brutally honest.

BF isnt bad, its great for rumours, reports and random banter with lots of Hawk supporters, but mightyhawk strikes me as the poor mans website.

I like MightyHawk because it is well run and not over moderated.

pfft...i just spat my coffee over my new LCD monitor

Over there, i feel like a Guantanamo Bay prisoner trying to send a letter out...all my posts edited to fit their shortsighted, brown and gold coloured regime.
