Heard he played well today. Can people tell us about his game?
Goals, marks, posessions?
Does he deserve Nathan Abletts spot?
thanks

I'm taking a stab as i don't have the exact figures.

scored: 3.3 could have got 10, but chose to set up a few instead.
23 possesions and something like 15 marks.

From what i seen he really stepped up which was great reminded me of how Nathan went last year in the twos final against Willy at Ports ground.
Demanding the ball and not letting the team down. Tommy is brilliant below his knees as well.

Also Davenport he is a beauty??

Imagine a couple of pre seasons under his belt. He is gonna rip the competition to shreds.

Hawkins lead very well all day, was strong overhead and his strength was something Coburg was unable to deal with.

Highlights:
- Jarrad Oakley Nicholls plays in from the kickout, Hawkins (on the mark) blocked by a Coburg player but he keeps chasing catches him right on the 50 and lays a brutal tackle (gave JON concussion). Hawkins wins a free kick (for JON holding the ball) spots up Bedford but kick hits him on the half volley about 25 out, Bedford snaps and goals.

- Kick came up short inside 50. Hawkins barrels through the pack (Barry Hall style) and spot up a loose man with a 50 meter pass across ground.

Quite an impressive performance.

yeah hawkins played well he did the team things and help set thing up this year in the vlf will do him the world of good at this point in time nabs spot is safe but the future looks good at geelong with big hawkins and davenport will be guns

Best Players: T. Hawkins, S. King, J. Davenport, M. Rooke, J. Cheep, S. Thompson

Got named B.O.G. on the VFL website, which I assume are the coaches nominated players, so he was obviously mighty impressive.

Great news about Tom, boy do we have a lot to look forward to. Also sounds like Rooke had a good game, can't wait to get him back in the seniors. :)

Rooke battled hard and was tough around the stoppages but he turned the ball over too much from his disposals. He looked like a guy that's been away from the game for a while and IMO cannot come into the seniors as yet.

It was easily the best game I've seen Hawkins play. For the first time he looked a class above. Led and marked very well (including an incredibly strong one hander he juggled 3 times), kicked well and shared the ball around beautifully. His ground level skills are a lot better than I thought too. Previously I would have said Nathan Ablett had the edge there. Now I'm not so sure.

It might be just me, but he looks a lot fitter now also. I guess playing a full year in either the seniors or reserves is starting to pay off.

The "tackle" he laid on Oakley-Nicholls was brutal. Absolutely piledrove him into the turf. And we got a goal from it. He and Davenport were the clear standouts I thought. King was very good too (as he should be I guess).

Hawkins played the best game I've seen him play so far. Brilliant, team orrientated. Very clear he has been spending time with the main group. Having said that, he's still not ready for the big time, especially finals.

Having said THAT, if Nablett goes down, he'll be in.

I don't think that Rooke showed enough yesterday to warrant a call up which is dissappointing given the form he was showing before his hammy injury.

Hawkins, Davenport = AWESOME!

Dav has to come onto the list for next year, no doubts about it.

Maxy left nothing out there and did a lot of the hard things but his touch was a little bit off. I still think he's going to get the call up this week.

Kingy also turned back the clock with a vintage performance (and was also harder at the pill than i've ever seen him). Don't be surprised to see him get a call up at some stage during the finals. I just hope he can replicate his performance from yesterday if that happens.
