Yeah well done to Hawthorn of getting the early picks in the top 25. Wish you all the best for next year and i hope Clarkeson gets another contract. He said he was going for younger players and he is and in another few years yous will be a very good team.
Clarko is sticking to his guns on youth and is in the early stages painting a rosy picture for our future. I believe clubs like Carlton, Collingwood, Essendon, Richmond, Fremantle and others from lasts season's fifth position down will use Clarko's template but when they wake up to what he has been up to presently we will have leap-frogged over that mob and be light years ahead in success.

Thats the plan. Clarkson needs to deliver more in 2006 than he did this year.
Somewhat harsh! He has been with us only twelve months. IMO his work on the U-turn has been pretty impressive thus far.

If the Hawks get around the 9-12 mark on the ladder.... and trade well next year and their young players develop... Then Roughead and Franklin become key position players in 2 years time, they will then have 3 years in the system... the hawks could be playing finals witha bit of luck...

All going to plan.

I totally agree...our time is once again nearly upon us, back up there where the Mighty Hawks should always be. It's all falling into place, young talent, offloading older (has-been) players, a new president - I'll see you all down at Glenferrie after the Granny in a couple years to celebrate our success!!!
Yea! H88be. No need for me to take down crates of XXXX with me. I'll be on the Crown Lager

Either way, I feel blessed to have lived through that era...that was when I first started getting into footy (9-10 yo) and I regularly go back and watch tapes to remember just how good the team, and individual players were. I think Peter Curran is hugely underated as a player - maybe because there was so many stand-out superstars alongside him.
I agree with you about Peter Curren. I was sad at the time he was shipped off to the Brisbane Bears whom I watched up here at Carrara when I wasn't down in Melbourne for Hawks' games.
And talking about watching tapes, mate, presently I am in the midst of transferring the many tapes of games in my library from VCR to CD. The problem is it is a slower process than what it should be because I cant help myself sitting down and going through scenes of so many premierships cups being lofted into the air by our legendary captains and coaches.
