Pick 14 - Matthew Johnson
With pick 14 Port Select

Matthew Johnson

Since Slick wasn't present, I've gone ahead and made this as the call. Johnson is a player many of us want and for good reason. A tall and classy mid, Port get someone who can take over the distribution and really give Ollie Wines another outlet for his contested ball winning. He's a smart player with great vision and good height. I also think at this point he was the best player available, someone with great upside who can be a part of their next generation.

Also strongly considered here was Sonsie, but I think he's a bit too much of a forward and I honestly think Johnson is just better.

Draper is another I considered, but again I don't know how much of a mid he is and I think that's what Port really want to be looking for.

Feel free to let me know how bad this pick is when you get on Slick

Pick 15 - Zac Taylor
Pick 15: Fremantle Dockers select Zac Taylor.

The Dockers have been blessed with genuinely elite mid/fwd talent over the past 15 years with Fyfe, Mundy and Sonny Walters the envy of every opposition supporter. Unfortunately, Fyfes shoulders are as stable as Kim Duthie, Mundy is soon to turn 49 and Walters has regressed faster than any player in the competition in the past 12 months.

With Finn Callaghan selected as a tall, athletic mid, Zac Taylor adds a skill set Fremantle will be sorely lacking in the coming years. An accumulator with footy smarts and clean touch, Taylor will offer Zach Merrett type reliability through the guts but also Dylan Moore smarts and craftiness up forward as a link up/goal assist legend.

A reach? Some may think so. I believe Caleb Daniel is an excellent comparison in upside for young Zac. There is no way Daniel goes so late in a 2014 redraft. Despite some vertical challenges, the sky is the limit for Zac Taylor in the purple and white.

Pick 16 - Darcy Wilmot
Pick 16 - Brisbane Lions - Darcy Wilmot

Tough call here and I strongly considered Goater but in the end I love Wilmot for Brisbane. Dashing half back flanker who is tough as nails with a style suitable for breaking through defensive zones. A player fans will love to watch streaming out of D50 taking a few bounces and delivering inside 50.

Fills a need here with Birchall retiring and Rich nearing the end of his career.

Pick 19 - Campbell Chesser
3 hours + … shall we pick for for Melbourne?

I have seen 3 other phantoms for Chesser, 1 for Owens (Chesser was gone) and 1 for JVR

so… Chesser?

Melbourne select : Campbell Chesser.

BurnaHawks I hope Chesser was on your list. You have until Bardo State picks to make a change

Pick 20 - Josh Goater
With pick 20, Geelong select Josh Goater

I think this is a great place to be able to take Goater. Unlike others, his issue with his disposal comes from not understanding how much time and space he has when he explodes away from congestion. At other points in games he has little trouble hitting targets, which gives me enough confidence to back his weapons. He's a great size and a superb athlete. He showed bursts of clearance play as impressive as anyone in this class.

Pick 21 - Jacob van Rooyen
Selection 21: Fremantle selects Jacob Van Rooyen

The Dockers have put plenty of work into JVR, and after selecting two mids with their first two selections will welcome the tall swing man with open arms.

Over to you Dominic03
