Smith should be embarrassed that Henderson who has less talent is out performing him and showing him how to run hard all year whilst Smith is playing with very little effort.
Can't play with pain or discomfort either. Just raises the white flag and puts in half arsed defensive efforts. If your going to play than don't try and be a liability Isaac.

Showed something in the last quarter, however the cats were never threatened.

The players that had to have big games simply didn’t have them. Smith, Breust and Gunston all ineffectual. Wingard disappointing also, however he is new to the system.

Nash, Morrison and Mirra will miss next week. Time to give other players an opportunity.

Cousins was ineffective for most of the game also. However has shown enough to be given another crack.

Missed our captain today and McEvoy out at the end is a concern. I hope he recovers.

Worps tried so hard.
Henderson in career best form.

It will be a developing year for us.

At least we didn’t drop our bundle. It simply isn’t the hawthorn way.

Depth is obviously an issue, we haven't got it in us to deal with all these injuries.

I'm sure Smith's wrist is ******.

Hopefully, we can sneak a win with Shiels back, and then Burger the following week.

The team that took the field today is pretty clunky, and lacking class in crucial areas.
Fair enough if Smith has a sore hand.... but his tackling has been an issue for longer than that.

I hate to use that word but he’s “lazy”. Only shows up when he feels like it. The same goes for Breust. Absolutely terrible second and third efforts.

Happy with Brand's game today as well. He stays.
With Frawley out for weeks, I don't think there is another option.

But, yep, happy with his game. Looking for this to be the year he pushes Frawley for a game, even when both are available.

Proud of them today, fabulous effort to be even somewhere in touch, with the excruciatingly bad injury list we have. I’m feeling good about the long term future. Worple’s going to be an elite midfielder, Lewis is going to be very good, Smith, Hendo and Scully is a ripping threesome, sicily’s a gun, Scrimshaws going to be good. This year is nothing, optimism is running high.

Mitchell Lewis has to stay in for the rest of the year. Produced much more than Ceglar and more game time to develop at the highest level. Need him to develop so we can focus on building midfield depth.

Look at Geelong midfield depth and compare that to ours.
We have to bring in 3 or 4 quality mids at the end of the year.
We will likely have a top 10 pick - best avail mid.
Finn McGuiness - f/s
FA mid if we can snag one.
Trade for a B+ mid if we can.

Mids mids mids

This is our rotated list. We have 7 first choice players injured, not much you can do.
In Scully's defence too, he's still building up match awareness after being out so long. Wingard isn't adding much either as he is still building match fitness and trying to gel with a new team.

Some great endeavour but lack of polish killed us at crucial times.

Breust was poor again. (His set shot goal kicking these days is very average). Misses a huge amount of crucial goals for us.

Smith very poor.
Nash experiment is over.

Brand excellent.

I would like to see Blake Hardwick move up the ground and into the play more as he has some grunt we are missing.
