I’m going to assume that Cousins is sore from last week. Was just about our best mid last week before he hurt his ankle, a handful of touches today says to me he’s not quite right. Not sure how people can be down on him, he’s been excellent in what’s really his first year stepping up from VFL.
Nash, as much as he has potential, has to put it all together at VFL level first. Not up to the standard right now and I think Clarko will have no choice to admit after today.
Wingard really looks like a fish out of water. Hopefully it starts to click soon.
The Gunt badly out of form. Offering next to nothing at the moment, clearly effected from his injured pre season.

All in all, have to be happy with that effort. I think for the first time I’m beginning to realise we really need some more top end talent, especially some young mobile bigs at either end of the ground. When an aging Rough and Mccevoy are keeping you in it it’s not a good sign for the future.
I’d be happy with a high draft pick, a big bodied mid in McGuinness and hopefully lure away some KPP from other clubs this off season.

*fitness is an issue for the whole squad, they seem to run out of energy late in quarters too often.

*veteran players are playing soft football, very few tackles or clean play from our so called leaders.

*players who can hold their heads up high, Worpel, Henderson, McEvoy, Sicily, Hardwick, Brand..... other than McEvoy where are the leaders? JOM also has been good this year in previous games but this is becoming a trend, our leadership group doing SFA for the most part, yet Clarko will talk about how we have some young players ect ect, the only bad young players we have are those you refuse to drop like Morrison and Nash.

*Wingard and Scully found it hard to get involved in the game again.

Yeah you’re right. Morrison easily in the gun before him. I just find he goes missing when the game is there to be won, but considering he’s playing the role that a 50-100 gamer should be playing, he’s done well.
Cousins has been asked to do a fair bit of the heavy lifting while Mitchell, Shiels and Burgoyne are out. When those players come back he gets pushed down the pecking order but he will benefit with better support around him and his role might change slightly for the better. He’s only played 11 games and would be close to the most improved player at the club right now. I’d keep him in the team even though he wasn’t great today because he’s improved on a number of areas and there’s plenty of upside.

Decent effort by most, but we were just not batting deep enough today.

Some positives in Worpel and Lewis.

Still amazing to think that despite our bottom 6 doing almost nothing we were not blown out of the water with our two best defenders in the stands and a young midfield lead by Worpel.

Didn’t expect a win, so....

Meh.
Pretty good summary just leaving the ground now next week is a must win.
We were gallant in defeat! g whiz our bottem 6 is bad.

Omerea and worpel have both stepped up this yr. It's our 3rd 4th 5th midfielders that we really fall away with titch, shiels, silk absence.

I really feel that our link between our mids and forward is horrible atm a lot to do with our ball movement perhaps to often we kick long and not spot up targets, stagnant forward line.

For mine brand has proved he is miles ahead of mirra and possibly frawley.
M.Lewis has proved his worth a decent run at it. The Nash experiment must stop.

Frawley will be out for about 4

Flip a coin between Cousins and Morrison for one of the outs,
If it's out of those two then it has to be Morrison. He hasn't had a good game all season and whilst Cousins isn't up to much himself he has at least contributed a little.

Unless Smith is really battling with that hand injury we have more than enough outside wingers. Morrison doesn't have any other discernable strings to his bow and due to his lack of athleticism he can't really be played anywhere else.

ideally both get dropped though.

at the very least Cousins is good for midfield depth, he is never going to be a star mid, but if we get injuries he can step in and we can be confident he'll give it his best.

Those having shots at Smith for "not being able to play through pain" need to find a short pier...

Hodge even said last week that it takes a lot of pain for Smith to react to it. And who knows how many injuries Smith (and other players mind you) has played through in his career.

You all know how hidden we are about injuries

Pig flew into him, pig named Porkins.

Thanks largely to the vehement defense on air by Watson on the replay, there is no way he gets more than a fine.
Eddie, Derm, Nick and King going hard for a suspension. Eddie sits on the panel and says that’s what the rule was bought in for and fines aren’t working.

Porky also has form

Other teams?
Couldn't watch the game today but the scores are quite respectable and not all that bad compared with what I was expecting.

Will get to the replay in an hour or so.

Quick question re: Cousins. Did he get injured? Only 6 touches for a mid is staggering so I initially assumed another in game injury... but then he's laid 7 tackles.

Any major news from game re: injuries or otherwise?

He could be a handy 4th-5th string midfielder when Mitchell and Shiels come back. We already have very little midfield depth and dropping him won’t help.

I am completely ok with that game. Geelong are flying and almost injury free. We are struggling and injury kaput... with a bit of luck it may have turned into a nail biter. Sure we have issues...

Nash is the least of it hes a 20 to 22nd player on our list we have 2 blokes in th afl top 50 in bruest and Chad who impacted the game as much. I've been a proponent of saying pop is almost gone but his efforts 2 at least bring the ball 2 ground against 2 a bloody lot taller opponents compared 2 those two mmm. Also when gunston switched with him late in the third was there any better performance by him up forward hes an all aussie 22?

Arguably our best game of the year. Special mention 2 Gary Rohan who's performance in 2014 was arguably worse than Jason clokes in a gf but not softer than Lewis jetta's. He tore us a new one today. Hopefully he exorcised his demons.he doesn't play maybe we win.
Nash is not a 20 to 22nd player. Your 20 to 22nd player should still be able to contribute to the overall performance of thebside.
He is a foreign development player who should be learning how to play Australian Rules Football (not AFL just Aussie Rules in general) in the VFL until such a time as he is compentent at the game.

I hate to use that word but he’s “lazy”. Only shows up when he feels like it. The same goes for Breust. Absolutely terrible second and third efforts.
Yeah Breust Gunston and Smith sick of them taking a day off v cats
Sick of seeing the pill bombed on Poppy’s head

Thought Roughy had his best game in awhile. Was in everything.

Big boy was huge. Hopefully that injury is only minor.

Sicily was all class.

Henderson career best form.

Poppys pressure acts were fantastic.

All in all. Not terrible. If we had our best team on the park we are a fair chance of winning.
