The Rivals Sports Network - the worlds largest Internet sports network is looking to expand its AFL network.
ABOUT THE RIVALS SPORTS NETWORK
The Rivals Sports Network (or commonly known as Rivals.com which focuses on US sports or Rivals.net which focuses on World Sport) was launched on August 1, 1999 in America and immediately became the world's #1 Web-based sports network. Essentially, Rivals is an enormous electronic network of 600+ of the best fan-managed websites covering American sport: NFL, NBA, NHL, College sport and the list goes on.
State of the art technology - brought in by former Microsoft engineers - means smooth navigation and links between these independent sites. Rivals is not only the #1 sports network on the web, but is the 4th stickiest of all Internet sites, and is a network which is growing at 10% a week. (85 million page impressions per day, at an average of 68 minutes per visit to over 500 sites in the U.S. alone).
Focusing on cricket, football, rugby, Formula 1, rallying, cycling and freesports the World Rivals network will eventually cover the best fan-inspired sites for sports as diverse as golf, rugby league and union, tennis, fishing, chess...
Rivals is a joint venture between News Corporation and Chrysalis Group Plc. Rivals is backed by Hummer Winblad, Intel, Softbank, while Chrysalis produce Football Italia, ITV Formula One and has a massive
range of television, radio and music properties. News Corporation is one of the world's largest media and entertainment groups with interest in areas such as publishing, cable/satellite television, film and sports properties. You can find out more about these companies at www.rivals.com, www.rivals.net, www.newscorp.com and www.chrysalis.co.uk.
In September 2000 the Rivals Sports Network World Sport Bureau operating as Rivals.net based in London decided to establish it's AFL division with a view to launch late 2000/early 2001 in time for the beginning of
the 2001 AFL season.
RIVALS AFL NETWORK
Currently the Rivals AFL Network has one live site. Essendon's Rivals site launched in late December 2000 - www.bomberblitz.com and is in the planning stages of a few more.
Opportunity remains for a Hawthorn site to join the Rivals AFL network. Be that a current AFL related supporter site which we will transfer over to the Rivals Network (the site name and domain name will remain the same if you wish) or one starting from scratch. Only 1 Rivals site per AFL club is permitted on the network to enhance greater recognition.
Remuneration includes a base payment of 100 UK pounds (approx $A265) per month for site development and 30 UK pounds (approx $A80) per month to cover ISP charges. Remuneration also includes a payment of 1.50 UK pounds (approx $A4) per every 1000 site visitations per month.
Rivals offers free website hosting and free domain name over the life of the site. You will have no out of pocket expenses!
Please visit Essendon's Rivals site - www.bomberblitz.com to view the setup and outline of what a Rivals.net site operates like and then contact Rivals AFL coordinator based in Australia at aflrivals@hotmail.com with your expression of interest or with any questions or queries you may have. The Rivals AFL coordinator after screening applications will forward applications to the Rivals AFL Division Office based in London.
As stated only 1 AFL site per club will be permitted on the AFL rivals network so you should get in quick with this offer.
