Morris, O'Hara and Jeka would be the ones closets to the chopping block as it stands, Bramble, Koschitzke and DBG next in line
Morris would be safe as houses and Ohara is a long term investment don’t see us canceling unless he was not invested. Same as DGB

The rest I agree, still think kozzi gets traded to Collingwood with craig

McKay is the one potential acquisition I have absolutely zero interest in. I don't know why we'd throw the kitchen sink at a failed forward who played 2 years worth of average footy as a defender in a team which conceded the most points against in both of those years. I especially don't understand why we would take that average defender and move him in to the original position he failed at / has never played to a competitive standard at any level.
I agree. I think messing up our FA acquisitions is the biggest risk to our rebuild. Bringing in FAs usually requires a commitment of substantial funds over a long period of time, and once done cannot be easily undone. The temptation is always to go hard at the biggest names who are on the market at the time but often the perceived value of these players is inflated by their mere availability. With DGB, Ramma and maybe McCabe still unknown quantities I think we are better off waiting another year to break out the cheque book unless there is absolutely nobody good on next years’s FA horizon. By the end of next year we might have a better idea of which of those three, Lewis and Blanck are genuine long term prospects (Lewis looks very good but he has really only had half a good year of football to date) and so have a better idea of our true needs. We don’t want to tie up salary cap on the first shiny thing on the market. Carlton’s Dekonig might as well be Dean Cox the way the media were throwing around long term, big dollar contracts for him but his actual output isn’t that great. It’s the lure of the FA.

DGB is no chance of being on the chopping block. He’s got a contract out to the end of 2024.

Not according to "Gettable!"

According to them, he's...gettable!

(I wonder how they came up with the name)

IMO Kosi, Jeka, Wingard, Mitchell, and Morris are those most likely to be gone next season.

I’d most like to retain Jeka & Morris out of that group.

Whilst I understand why people may raise Longy, he’s done very well across the preseason and in the first VFL match - wouldn’t be calling for him to go as he’s still only 20 and plenty of scope for improvement.

Being “gettable” often gets leaked to journos from other clubs who have had some sort of chats with the player or their agent. Sometimes it’s leaked purposely, other times times by clubs who have been spurned and want to blow things up.

Obviously not always correct, but usually it’s coming from clubland.

DGB being potentially gettable as a trade option is different to being chopped.
If DGB requested a trade home do we hold him to his contract? Reckon we look at offers.

Lewis, Ramma, DGB, Blanck - if these four guys turn into a-graders (and stay fit) we’ll be in very very good shape. If they don’t we have f-all else coming my through and going to need to invest heavily in incoming drafts (and maybe FA).

I want to see ML play alongside Greene before I decide what his ceiling is (like my opinion on this topic matters, lol). I think Greene being the polar opposite to Kosi might really be a great foil for ML. Insofar as Greene's stats might not change but his impact does as he creates space for ML rather than getting in his way. At any rate, I certainly think he's a fine player to have on the list for the next season or two as we search for and phase in our next KPP.

If Lewis can stay fit he's definitely capable of being A grade.

But gee, you'd be pretty optimistic to expect the others are likely to become A grade. Even with the positivity towards Ramma.

Topiary has posted a few times we are on the hunt for a key defender. Might shed a little more light on realistic ceilings for two you've named.

Statistically speaking, if 1 of those guys become A graders, we’re doing pretty good. If all of them do it would be like winning the lottery. I hope you’re right but if we can at least get 1-2 of those guys to an elite level, we’re doing really well.

It would be very optimistic to think any tall on the list other than Lewis is likely to be an A grader. It’s possible, but not likely. I’d settle for a couple of B graders out of what we have

It’ll be a call at seasons end between Jeka & Kozi who stays on the list next season.

I hope it’s not Kozi as his had ample chances to cement his spot for the past 2 seasons and has shown his not capable.

Hopefully Jek can take his chance once given the opportunity when he returns from his hamstring injury

Don’t hold your breath on both counts.

Be ****ing gobsmacked if he becomes A Grade.

What is the issue with DGB? At 194, he is the same height at May and Lever so should be ok with a taller partner.

He does not seem to have had a decent run at either AFL or VFL?

There is no issue. People are impatient, and think that a 20yr old should be lighting it up as a key defender.
