Usually do one of these before the trade period but was caught-up with other stuff this year so here is my post-trade period update! This is what I have at the moment. As you can see, firstly the list is STACKED in terms of talent (which we already knew) but is also pretty close to being completely full as it is. If what I have is correct, then we have 36 primary list, 4 Cat A and 1 Cat B locked in for next year which leaves us with limited options in terms of drafting next month and SSP/MSD in 2025.

If I had to guess, I'd say we are likely to delist-then-rookie one or both of Gunston and/or Breust for flexibility. Regardless, we can only intake a max of 2 players to primary/Cat A list at the moment plus the option of another Cat B player if we want (which I suspect we will re-sign Bennetts with).

As usual, if you spot any mistakes then please let me know :)

In my very humble opinion I think Bennetts has shown more at Box Hill than Butler has
Butler started the year really well and has shown glimpses at AFL level. I think he was set to break into the side this year and got his chance early but not quite there. I think if he was able to have had another patch at box Hill he'd have found his way back into the side and been better for it

Apologies I am not an expert and I might have the rules wrong.
But am I right in thinking that we will need to delist/re-rookie one senior list player in order to meet the three draft selection requirements? and then upgrade a current rookie?
If so who are we moving to the rookie list/upgrading?

Disappointed for JB, I really thought he'd be given another crack, but understandable given how tight spots are.

A good reminder for folks that these boards are often perused by family members of players. Particularly worth remembering when diagnosing a player with ADHD based off an action on the footy field, or calling one of our own "garbage" or a "spud".

I find it hilarious on rookie me central that they publish the draftees profiles with height but no weight, yet leave the word “Weight:” there with a blank space…View attachment 2153971
They definitely weigh players when they do the testing. My boy has his weight listed in their online portal, and so do at least some of the other players.

If I had to make a current day comparison - I would go with Charlie Cameron - expect his defensive pressure and tackling to be top notch.
Charlie by the way also played league as a kid.

Hardwick goes forward and Frost plays small.
Weddle goes forward and Sicily stays back.
Amon goes wing and Weddle stays back.

There really is a plethora of options for us.

Imagine some of our forwards need a spell and we swing Dimma, Weddle and Sicily up there to bridge the gap for a bit. That's a bloody fun outcome.

Versatility and flexibility is the key for next year. For all those people discussing Frost's position in the team, they are discounting that his ability to play as a small or tall defender will then have an effect on the rest of the team. Frost playing as a small defender means that Dimma goes forward.

The one thing to keep in mind is that Frost is still yet to return to running from his broken foot. Hoping that he will start running before the end of the month if all goes to plan.

At the end of the day when a player suffers a horrific impact injury like Butler had there is an expectation that the club will look after him.

It was probably line ball between Butler and Bennetts and Butler. I did see something in Butler in his first year, hopefully he can recapture that next year.
