Essendon, Carlton and Collingwood are the three biggest rivalries in the AFL. Bar none. The showdown and derby are the next two, but they don't have the tradition that these three games have.

Hawthorn is an irrelevance in comparison.

There's always exceptions, but I think you'd find most Hawthorn fans hate Essendon the most, while most Essendon fans see Hawthorn in the tier below Carlton and Collingwood, with Richmond, North, West Coast and probably Brisbane.
 
Love beating Hawthorn but beating Carlton or the Pies is the most satisfying win. Enjoy smashing the Tigers. Pathetic rabble of a club. Would love to knock off the Hawks this weekend:thumbsu:

Im with the OP i hate the hawks. despise them. Alot of it has probably got to do with our recent form against them, and the way they carry on when they beat us. For me it goes Hawthorn--Carlton--Collingwood--Richmond

I don't get concerned about the Bombers...they had some great players...I hate West Coast...and therefore don't mind the bombers as they have knocked off WC more than we have.
 
I like the bombers & in years gone by the games between us has meant alot more to us Hawk supporters because for so long we were dominated by essendon.

The bombers dominance ended years ago & we go into saturday nights clash as heavy favourites and deservedly so. I expect to win the game comfortably but even if we were to lose I wouldnt be upset because beating essendon is nothing more then 4 points to our club now.

At the start of the year if you asked any hawk supporter who they wanted to beat I'm certain North Melbourne, Sydney & Geelong would be the front runners.

Outdated rivalries that dont give relevance to recent performaces & ladder positions that are built up as the biggest matches of the year. :thumbsdown:

Well said mate, i like the Hawks myself i have respect for them going back to the 80's. You guys dominated us for a while too if im not mistaken. Good luck on sat nite, although you wont need it. ;)

Thanks matey, I'm definitely curious as to how the will Hawks respond to a loss & with recent degrading form I'd prefer it wasn't Scotty's 250th as teams can lift for there champions.

I'm just hoping Hodge plays & gets through the game without concern as he's my favourite player & he adds so much to the team.

Would love to see a shootout with Lloyd/Lucas at one end & Buddy/Roughy at the other. Yummy :thumbsu:

It will be interesting but im expecting the Hawks to be reallly fired up and rough up our younglings early on. If were not careful it could be a blow out. This game depends on Hawthorns mentality. We know they have the players and gameplan. :)

my hatred for the hawks developed upon reading bigfooty, and ever since then i have never cheered against a team so hard. my god some of their supporters on here are toolbags. . but there always exceptions, the hawks posting in this thread seem alright.

sitll gotta be carlton though, robert walls just makes it so much easier to continue hating them also. . .
 
Nah, not me, I don't mind the hawks.
I hate carlton most. I don't even want to mention why, it still hurts, but I'm sure you can guess. There is nothing I love more than watching the bombers get up over the blues. bunch of smartass supporters and ________ players. makes my blood boil.
