Hawthorn could announce a profit of @ $98K for 2005. This is after $800K was put in by board members to cover the true operating losses.

Question is, where will the money come from or who on the next board will find the money next year and the next year.......?

As a paid up and passionate member for over 40 years I am 100% behind Kennett to fix the problem.

Also good to see Hardcore Hawks has also hit the scrapheap......... MIGHTY FIGHTING HAWKS is back!!!!!!

We, the plebs, who support the Hawks should be very happy that some of the "big boys" support the club financially as well as spiritually.

I have been a Qld based member for 7 years, and will be renewing again this year.

Regardless of the value I (or you) may or may not get for your membership dollar, all Hawks supporters should try to put their money where their mouth is to help get the Hawks (at least financially) back up level to at least some of the better performed Melbourne based clubs.

We cannot play the games or be part of actual wins on the field (despite the fact that we all wish we could), but we all can do our little part in keeping the club going off the field.

Guys,

How do the board members contribute to covering the loss, do they just sign over a cheque to the club? And in reality, does this mean you were near enough to $700K in the red for the year?

I thought financially that the Hawks were travelling a bit better than that.

Cheers turtle, I know that there was a gala night where they raised 300 000 through inviting richer supporters to an auction.

If the club has recorded a loss of 700 000 dollars for the year....so what. When a team wins like 9 of there last 48 games, things tend to go array. Other clubs have also been there...St.Kilda 2 000 000-2002, and Richmond 2 000 000 in 2004, both have turned it around, and its a credit to there administration for being able to do this. But both had better on field performances to achieve this. I think when we turn it around on the field we to will turn around that 700 000 which isnt a great deal for the crap that Schwab the wreaker served up; especially with so many non spirited and crap losses in recent times. It's a well known fact that in football when you perform on the field you perform off it as well.

At the moment Im really excited about the way the team is going, we have some good youngsters and Im confident in the direction the club is going in terms of its "youth policy".

All I can say is bring on 2006!!!!!!!!

All the best turtle and I wish you and the Richmond Football Club the best for 2006. I bet you to are extremly excited with the Tigers prospects; and IMO you are within good reason to be, the fight and vigor your team showed was very refreshing in deed.

surely u would not want to base profits solely on onfield performances!! on-field performace should be the cream on the cake...pies managed to make a 2mil profit this year and they were just as bad as de hawks

this is all well and good, but would hope that the club would make a small profit even tho they dont perform well on the field

True, but apart from Essendon and Collingwood, pretty much no Victorian clubs make profits when they are the bottom. I compared the Hawks to Richmond and St.Kilda as they to had poor years and I would guess would probably have a simular buisness structure to us.

As long as we have enough cash to survive Im happy, and we do at the present time.
