Hawks trained in 2 groups today. 1 group trained @ Waverley Park, the other group did not!

Overall impression: Very good. Looked sharp, good talking, competative spirit.

The Waverley Park Group consisted of 3 sub groups:

Main group of 14 including the 4 big men Spida, Bob, Tails & Big Max + Mitchell, Clarke, Miller + I believe Lucas Markovic (first time Ive seen this rookie -- has good potential. Long way to go for the boy if he wants it but didnt look out of place.)

Main group worked on stoppages. Boundary throw ins etc. Spida v Max, Bob v Tails.

Miller impressed. Have seen him at other practices earlier in the season and missed his kicks. Today beautiful. 3 times in a row hit his man w/40m kick laces out to front of his target face. IMHO he needs to add another bow to his string. Oppurtunist forwards spots are rare and we need good midfielders. If he's improved his engine....certainly got the body to take and do some damage..

2nd group of 2 x 4 ran the boundary and then some intensive and extensive handball drills incl Thurgood, Kane, Young, Bateman, Little & I think Murphy & B1.

3rd group by himself was B2 Muston running the boundary - recovery looks to be coming along nicely.

Cheers

Good to hear.

Will need to maintain this form through to Sunday as the Roos will be desperate for a win!(though I think hawks will win by 5 goals:thumbsu: )

BTW. Was buddy there, and, if so how did he go?

Also was Luke Hodge there?

Cheers mate

I reckon it's time to bring in Harry. The Dome suits him + with his speed he will stretch the Roos defence.
Good point....

This is probably the best time to give him a run around the paddock and I agree this would really add a little something to the hawks foward line this week.....Him and Willo seem to play fairly good footy off each other up foward.

Although Its gonna be hard for anyone to get a game with the squad winning the way they are!

The Beaus, Buddy, Ellis, Boyle, Baily, Birchall, Miller, Ries etc. etc.

The future looks bright for the Hawks!:D

No offence but why on earth would we bring Miller into a winning side with no injuries?

He does some good things, but consistently makes errors and is terrible overhead. IF we played him as a small forward I might consider it, if there was some need for a change (which there isn't), but never would I play him through a midfield rotation with the way some of the others like Ladson and Lewis are developing.

Only change Franklin in for Ries.

That would be my guess as well.

If North go tall in their forwards (Rocca, Thommo, Petrie & Hale) we will force them to defend our tall forwards.

IMHO Ries is the 23rd man. He's got to accept he will come in at the last moment or be dropped the next week when the regular player is fit to return. Still a vital player and well worth keeping but no longer a regular 22.
