Hawks are the reigning premiers, the team to be HUNTED this year, no matter what Clarko or Hawk supporters dish up. They are no longer justifiable underdogs

eggggsactly.

can't have yer "premiers" and eat it too - the hawks are sooo good - winners all over the ground, reignin champs, no.1 player-in-the-comp, and even have the mental edge, yet we're the undisputed favourites???

really, f**ken chow down on that cake on yer own board.

Here's one of the Hawk flogs right on cue. Now we need HodgePodge, Yardenleavy and Shotta to post in here, and we've got the set.

Will be interesting to see what your excuses are should you lose the gf this year, no matter who you are playing.

excuses? whats deemed an excuse? so are you guys better or not? if 'excuses' aren't valid, surely you are not underdogs.

i'll be glad just to get to the gf again - 3 in-a-row can't be easy these days. implying its a formality is kinda underselling your own teams self-proclaimed greatness. i really don't geddit.

and i don't travel to any other teams boards to put up with bf dumbshitness...you aint gonna affect any oppositions opinions .... not to mention it's bad enuff here sometimes.

Another incompetent Hawks tool.Duh.....how do I do this > :D :D :D

I don't think we'll ever see Hodgepodge or his clone fishbowl on this board again

I wonder if you're lonesome tonight
You know someone said that the worlds a stage
And each must play a part.
Fate had me playing in love you as my sweet heart.
Act one was when we met, I loved you at first glance
You read your line so cleverly and never missed a cue
Then came act two, you seemed to change and you acted strange
And why Ill never know.
Honey, you lied when you said you loved me
And I had no cause to doubt you.
But Id rather go on hearing your lies
Than go on living without you.
Now the stage is bare and I'm standing there
With emptiness all around
And if you wont come back to me
Then make them bring the curtain down.

Hawthorn are the team to beat for the flag this year so I'm glad we get to play them twice to see how we measure up against them. Considering how good their forward line is and all our back line injuries, its going to be tough for us.

more gutless "out clauses".
It seems to me that a lot of you Cat supporters just can't see reason.
Sure, a couple on here have agreed that Hawthorn are more underdone, but a heap of others are just looking so hard for that 'win' that they wont have a bar of any thinking that Geelong could actually be better prepared than Hawthorn at this point in time.

Let's have a look at who has question marks over their heads/aren't available for each team..

Geelong -
Hunt, Mooney, Harley, Johnson...I'm not going to count a player who hasn't played for 12 months( Egan).

Hawthorn -
Croad, Ellis, Gilham, Ladson, Lewis, Campbell, Birchall....just off the top of my head.
That's 5 players from our starting Backline...then Buddy and Hodge have only one game under their belt, and the club has said they will be debuting 2 youngsters as well....yet, you think that any talk of us being underdone is BS.

Fact is that you want this win more than anything, as it gives you hope that the Grand Final demon is dead, and you wont except any excuses from Hawthorn and it's supporters as to why the win could be hollow.
Sadly though, if you get up on friday night, 99% of the viewing public know Geelong are probably 3 weeks ahead of Hawthorn in preparation at the moment.

Mate, I agree with you.
Although you would expect both Grand Finalists to be fairly level in fitness and prep the cats are well ahead for some reason. Well Bomber has said they have learnt from last year and are doing things differently. Injuries aside.

If we were to lose, you are correct, it would hurt many.

So, my question to you is, assuming you expect to lose (due to the areas you have pointed out), what is a reasonable loss for you?
Give us a target please :) So victory is not 'hollow' as you like to say

the afl season is a marathon and whilst it would be ideal to go in with our best 22 its better to get the players right and peak at the end of the year, thats how the hawks won the flag by peaking, the cats best football was between rounds 9-18, most people realise these two teams will probably play off agian barring major injuries, and with little between the teams its going to come down to who peaks at the right time. If the hawks keep progressing they may just be to good for the cats, due mainly the superior forward set up of franklin, roughead, williams ,rioli, brown and that man DEW, having said that the cats midfield is the best with gazza, selwood, bartel , ling and corey, so its going to be an intriuging battle over the year, however despite some of the post here the hawks are genuinely underdone and the cats should win this one

Do you know the funny thing is that hawthorn supporters cant even buy a membership anymore all sold out, what a great club NOT!!!!!!!!!!!! They should be supporting all their supporters that want a membership

Do you often just make stuff up like this?

Anyhow, I agree with some sentiments in this thread. I believe we will be below our best, but most sides are most weeks, and I also believe that when we hit the park our players and coaching staff will still think we have the team to do the job.

I think we might get done personally, but expect it to be a pretty fierce battle and wouldn't be overly surprised if we won.

Good luck. Love beating Geelong but also love watching them play.:thumbsu:

of course, a lot of us cat supporters can't see reason - nevermind that this is BF and the majority of EVERY F**KEN teams posters can't see beyond their own clubs!

this is the same gutless "out clause" as before - if you read thoroughly you'd realise that quite a few couldn't care less about what an actual win would achieve to dispelling the myths and exorcisin the 'demons'.

"fact" - f**ken hell, not only posting on our board, yer know speakin for us?

"reason". hmmm.

as for "you wont except any excuses" - WTF does that mean? we accept all excuses??

i think bomber said he has moved on...not it was an aberration.

and what would hawthorns excuse been had you lost? the injuries, an off day, the shark analogy, etc.

and these cats posters, are they the kind that troll from bay13/mainboard that never set foot on the cats board?

AC said the day before the GF there would be no excuses for losing.
We were playing the greatest team of all time, no-one expected us to win so we didn't need any excuses

Let's just say the op knows what I am talking about

If we lose it's because you are the better team on the day/night, just as you were in Rd 17 last season.

fact is that a win tomorrow is no more/less important than any others we have during the season.

The person yelling loudest is more often than not, the one losing the debate.

I note also, you pick me up on spelling mistakes( of which you have a couple yourself) and neglect to actually respond to the list of players I've put before you as a guide to how 'underdone' we are.

Yet you rabbit on about 'gutless out clauses'.
Nice.

Points wise, yes I agree.
If you lose to Hawthorn tomorrow night with the preparation we've had, and the Hype that you've received after the NAB cup campaign, the media will turn on you like a pack of wild dogs.

galon doesn't think so.

Not all the Hawthorn players you list are confirmed as out yet? Are they?

Egan being out 12 months is irrelevant. He is an AA CHB. Harley is AA.
Johnson is an obvious replacement for Hunt. That's 4 missing.

Other than partying why is Hawthorn underdone? It's not the amateurs.

Does anyone really care what excuses opposition supporters make for their team losing? The winning team gets 4 point and thats all I really care about. I couldnt care less what excuses are given, at the end of the day if my team takes the 4 points im happy.
