Was there something in the water they were drinking that day ?

1-13 combined going into that game. 10-2 since then. Talk about play each other into form.

It was the day that two teams really struggled to gain any ascendancy and even though one team left the ground with the 4pts, both sides took a lot of positives from the game which they then could take into the following weeks.

Hardwick was determined to make the Hawthorn game the standard at which all Richmond performances would be played to. Whereas Hawthorn just need to find some belief and get the players who were available to stick together and remain uninjured.

Since that game there's been gradual improvement for both sides and in the case of the Tigers, Hardwick has been able to show a pretty volatile supporter base that his message is being taken on by the players and it will deliver wins.

Yeah but the better team still lost on the day.
...and on Friday night against the Hawks too.

It's amazing how often it happens.

Hardwick is the key though. Very sad to see him leave Hawthorn. But on the plus side, at least Essendon didn't get him. That would have sucked big time.

Go Tigers.:thumbsu:

Two proud clubs that have refused to believe the doomsayers and have just got down and dirty and gotten on with the job.:thumbsu:

Dustin Martin reminds me of young Hodge. I hope for Tigers sake they end up keeping him because he will probably win you a Grand Final one day.

I really admire how Hardwick has coached this year - how he didn't doubt himself when the Tigers were losing.
Me too.

Their last quarter against the Swans was awesome. Hard, contested footy. When was the last time Richmond played like that? The 70s?

They've done it plenty of times over the years, but it's been the result of a "special effort" rather than anything sustainable. Richmond's replaced the older brigade with impressionable kids so Hardwick can work on ingraining this harder approach into the players' footy DNA.
