However I can't accept

- the trial by media
- the complete absolution of Petrie who eye gauged and got nothing
- Hawthorn players commenting on the incident the way they did. One for all and all for one is the way we are at hawthorn. If they had a problem, then keep it behind closed doors. Also I would add where were the players flying the flag for Lake before the incident?
- the CEO of the AFL commenting on the matter before it's gone to the tribunal.

It's ******* amateur at the AFL and I am just absolutely sick of it.

Lake wasn't choking Petrie, at least he didn't for most of the time they were on the ground. He was pushing down on the collar bone. Maybe he did move his thumb down onto the windpipe but a person does not submit as Petrie did (in an attempt to get Lake off him) if they are being choked. Try pushing on your windpipe and see if you can tolerate it for more than a few seconds. No way did Petrie just lie there and take it. So basically because it 'looked' like Lake was choking Petrie he gets 4 weeks. Judd actually eye gouged two players and got 4 weeks. Given how fragile the human eye is I can't see how low pressure to the windpipe with a thumb to aggravate your opponent is worth the same penalty.

You are dead right on the trial by media points. Hawthorn should challenge this and threaten court action given he has not had a fair trial due to incessant media speculation and commentary.

Hill being a late out for us last week was a massive loss, meant north could put a heavy tag on smith and seriously stop our outside run and pace. Couldn't transition the ball out of defense and lost the game as a result. Fingers crossed he will be back this week.

Not sure if this is the right place for it - but heading over for the game Friday night. Anyone have any recommendation for pre/post game beers?

I don't think Hill will play this week unfortunately and Duryea has a shoulder problem and that would be huge a risk carrying another injured player into a game in which we will need 22 fit players.

I'm heading over and have been keeping an eye on the weather. Doesn't sound too bad. Scattered showers during the day and predicting 1-5mm. Hoping it doesn't get much worse than that.

Believe the article in question was referring to selection in the previous few weeks of Hale/Ceglar, despite McEvoy being fit. I would expect Hale to be dropped for McEvoy this week however. And yes, it would be insane for Big Boy to cover for Lake! (imo)

Bloody hope Hill can get up but have my doubts. Langford would have to a be a strong chance and Simpkin may also be under consideration as he has some pace.

Reckon we need to push Litherland up onto the wing with Cheney taking Gus' spot in the back half and Suckling to play across half forward/pinch hit through the middle giving us this line up:

In my opinion, the umpires need interpretation revision lessons, so they all have the same ideas on the rules. The biggest problem is you see a player run 35 metres without a bounce and another mark an 8 metre pass and get awarded a mark. This must confuse the players, as they can't anticipate how different umpires will react to different situations.
