Autopsy Hawks vs Eagles

I felt we were too nervous to take the game on. We were a sneaky a chance in the last quarter. Just no overlap run and too f u c king cute with the ball...

The attack on the ball and the man was lacking big time. Gunston didn't deserve that end to his season either. Gutted.

A massive opportunity to look to the future now. Risks needed at the selection table. We earned the double chance, now sudden death all the way. The way we know how.

Birchall missing a lot of criticism here, he was useless. Gibbo?? Wtf? Didnt we recruit Frawley so Gibbo could peel off? He is useless in one on one duels so why was he in them all night?

NicNat had a field day tonight, he must have been jizzing in his pants all week with the thought of coming up against McEvoy.. Lewis is the exact type of player that will decline sharply, worst thing we can do is persist and persist when we could be getting minutes into Jedi/JOR.

I don't know where we can go, our defence looks rubbish, our game style has been worked out and when we do when it forward we don't have a commanding key forward.

Rome is falling

The entire team was poor tonight where do you start.

Seriously don't act smart. You haven't done f uck all as a footy club in almost ten years. 2006 was a while away. You need to win it before you act cocky on a club board which has pulled three flags in 7 seasons.

Also it isn't over. THE REAL STAGE IS AT RHE G! Pray you don't meet us there

I know you want to give some shit back, but on tonight's performance and the fact that most weren't able to pay the price, stick the head in the whole, go when it was their time to go, well the big prize is along way off, just look at the amount of times we chose to kick of the ground for starters. self preservation mode in full flight tonight.

That Gunston did that injury running out of the back line kind of made it worse for me.

On a night when we struggled to kick goals, one of our premium forwards was running around the backline, getting injured.

Suckling shouldn't play another game for Hawthorn. Thank you for your services to the club but it's time for someone else to have a go.

Not true we switched on for about 3 weeks mid year.

Sure, but good sides need to be switched on for 23 weeks.
Our boys just seem to turn up when it suits them.

Just saw Mitchell's stats. Seriously, the guy is an absolute legend! He rarely ever plays a bad game and always competes at 100%. We will miss him so, so much when he retires. When his fellow senior players are making dumb errors or looking like they couldn't be f***** (Roughead), he is getting smashed in the contest and winning clearances.

We just aren't as good as we used to be. It's been a hell of a ride, and I still hold out hope because I know our best is better than anyone's but we just seem so far off it at the wrong time of year.

But make no mistake, we are more than capable. And should we three-peat from here it'll be our sweetest flag yet.

Lots of players down tonight, would be easy to overreact and say cut them all but these games do happen - esp in front of a 40k rabid pro WC crowd

I worry about McEvoy against those mobile ruck types. He has been routinely smashed against guys that have any semblance of mobility (Lobbe, Ryder, NicNat) but fares a lot better against the bigger/solid types like Sandi/Pyke etc. Would rather have seen Ceglar play tonight but I guess he has missed too much footy.

Frawley just can't play forward. No one should be impressed that he kicked goals against the Lions or the Blues. If you're going to use him as a swing man he shouldn't be in the team - Schoenmakers does it better even if he is more maligned.

Suckling is a whipping boy, but for good reason. If hes not using his leg effectively he really isn't contributing anything to the team. He gives up 1-2 goals each week without fail (first 2 goals were given up cause of his poor kicking and then inability to hold his footing in a contest). Duryea is a better all round option imo and I cannot understand how Suckling is starting ahead of him. Even if Duryea is having a down game at least he is physical and goes hard at his opponent.

Thought Bruest, Burgoyne and Puopolo were all well down - but these guys have been really solid all yr, so its hard to be too down on them. Smith has also been amazing for us all season, but in hindsight probably should have been out for Hartung.

Lewis, Hill and Roughy are more concerning imo. Roughy has been fumbly and off for a few months now (side effects of cancer?), and Lewis is getting touches but seems ineffectual in most recent games to me. Barely noticed his output tonight. Hill has been terrible as long as I can remember this season. Not sure whats up with him because he has been a star for us. Its too late to not persist with him now though, especially if Smith is still hurt next week.

Lake is a warrior and I love what hes done for us, but he just didnt have a matchup tonight (happening a lot more this season sadly). Their big forwards are too quick for him. He shouldnt play against them again if we make it that far.

Rioli was amazing tonight. **** the haters, the guy is a champ and we would have been smacked a lot more without him.
Same can be said for Mitchell.

Hope to hell that Gunston isn't done for the yr, he will be our biggest loss in yrs if unavailable.

You tend to "know" early if the boys are on or not and it may sound stupid by Breust hitting the post in the first minute just made me think, "not tonight". It is precision time, execution time, and that was port. It didn't lose us the game but it set the tempo, a marker and in some ways is representative of our season. Not 100% when need! too much relying on this to happen rather than making them happen.

Is it hunger?Drive? Passion? I don't know but all of these were missing as were our famed skills. Eagles ran more, harder and pressed more. Disappointing.

Why opposition supporters need to come on here and troll is beyond me we do a good enough job of eating our own without help

That was a gutting loss we were out played and it looked like out coached
West Coast out worked us and shut down our space, and our blokes didn't run hard enough to break that, we've played like that many times this year, gotten away with it a few times when the opponent couldn't keep it up but we played like we thought we were going to lose and needed to conserve energy for next week.

Mitch is a beast he is still our best player, it wasn't his most damaging game but we are going to drop off a cliff when he retires, once in a generation player
Sizzle came out on fire and took a half to recover from the first quarter but he tried his guts out

Decent games from a few others, poor games from too many. Chip was not the issue tonight and you gotta give the guy a break in his first final when most of his team mates server up the crap they did

Injury to Gunston just topped off a bad night hope it's not as bad as it looked

The umps didn't cost us the game they just made the game even worse for anyone not barracking for west coast. I don't recall ever hearing the C7 commentary team point out so many missed frees to the Hawks, it was very strange but if those guys are calling out bad calls they must be really terrible. Not a good look for supposedly the biggest sport in the country to have the officials be that poor in a final.

Going to be a loooong week feel for the supporters that have to spend it in WA

That effing clanger from Suckling out of the goalsquare perfectly captured why I will never like Suckling as a player.

Elite kick. Then he has brain explosions like that.

Honestly. The day he is traded, I will dance a merry jig. I do not care if he plays his role blah blah blah, I really just don't like his game. At. All. (please refer to rant earlier this year where I voiced the same opinion).
Remember Blazestorm getting up me as well at the start of the year for putting up the same opinion, just feels hollow now to be right.
