15-16-17 was eerily similar to 08-09-10 for the Hawks so based on that I expect top 4 this year and multiple flags in the next few years

The kids are training the house down. Some of you may need to reassess

No strapping on Jaegar’s knee. Reports are he has his break away pace back

Could Hawthorn really do it this year? Could they? Ask yourself

Are talking about results or list profile? Hawthorne have gotten absolutely everything out of their last list. It will make the crash bigger and now with 18 teams it is going to be very hard to get back up there. Trading out club stalwarts for middle-aged players (Mitchell, Jaeger and the crim from Richmond) was just crazy seeing they will probably be retired by the time you guys get back to finals.

Getting a loud mouth paleo-conservative flog like Kennett in as your leader was also a bad move. He drinks the bathwater as badly as any supporter and thinks the "because Hawthorne" mentality will get it done. Despite the predictable sales job for a liberal government by the Murdoch Press he actually was terrible for our state. Hawthorne did not become the professional machine that it was over the last 7 years or so until he left. He has also created friction with the one good thing still going for your club. Clarkson.

The other issue for your club is that the supporters are notoriously fair weather, as seen in the 90s. It's going to be a rough decade or so for you lot, but you still have the three cups to cry in!! It's going to be worse if flogs like Kennett cause the club to make short-term decisions because of unrealistic expectations.

Hawthorn were in the top 3 Victorian clubs for club membership in more seasons then not between 1997/2003 and have posted successive profits for every year since 1997 (many of those within the famed 1991-2008 premiership drought - an eternity for Hawthorn fans)

So myth debunked

Get used to waiting again. I am guessing Carlton and Essendon fans sounded like you in 2000. Richmond fans in 82, Melbourne fans in the 50s ect ect. Eras come to an end and it is much more competitive these days with 18 teams, everyone stealing each other's ideas and no one accepting cellar dweller status. We don't have the St Kildas of the 80s and Fitzroys of the 90s anymore.

You have to go down to the bottom now. You will get one very high pick but the 2nd pick is around 20. You will have not much to trade and Free Agents won't be coming to your club because there is no chance of finals.

You've made an artform out of being wrong over the years, so it's great that you've kept your form. Credit where it's due. :thumbsu:

Kennett was at the helm when the board put forward the five2fifty plan(five years to win 2 flags and have 50k members), which plenty of mouthbreathers said they were no chance of achieving. How did that turn out? Care to remember?

Hawthorn have broken their membership record every year for the last 11, including 2017, despite the poorest start to the year in recent memory.....but of course "notoriously fair weather supporters"... herpity derpity.

Btw, since when is 23yrs old 'middle aged'?

Looking at the first month - pies, cats, tigers and dees - whats expectation?

Could be in strife early like the glorious start to 2017

After jagging 8 flags in 20 seasons the Hawks went down for 17 completed seasons (an eternity for a Hawthorn fan) and jagged another 4 flags in 10 years...

Not sure what relevance Hawthorn’s undisputed record has compared to perpetual also rans like Melbourne, Richmond and Essendon?
