Michael Voss to coach Hawthorn!

mvoss.jpg
hawthorn.jpg

Despite an outcry in the media about Michael Voss coaching just the season after he coached, the former three time premiership captain has taken a senior role at Hawthorn after Alastair Clarkson left due to medical reasons. Michael Voss has always been known for developing young players well, and with Hawthorn been such a young side, it was a perfect choice for him. "I think I'm going to really enjoy it here and hopefully in the next half decade I can be apart of coaching a premiership." Meanwhile Voss has named Luke Hodge as captain while Lance Franklin and Sam Mitchell have been named vice-captains.

NAB Cup Summary:

Round 1: Defeated Carlton by 31 points (Franklin 5 goals, Crawford 3 goals, Hodge 30 possies, Campbell 28 hitouts)

Round 2: Lost to Geelong by 113 points (Franklin 2 goals, Hodge 24 possies, Campbell 2 goals, 20 hitouts - Sewell out for season, knee)

Practice Match: Lost to Kangaroos by 44 points (Boyle 3 goals, Franklin 3 goals, Crawford 26 possies)

Practice Match: Lost to Port Adelaide by 56 points (Boyle 2 goals, Renouf 25 possies, 18 hitouts, Ladson 27 possies)

Vossy Says: "Not a very good pre-season considering what we were expecting. Not only did we have three terrible losses but we have lost our best tagger, Brad Sewell to a knee reconstruction for the season. Our loss to Geelong was unacceptable and I am hoping we can make up for our terrible pre-season when the real season gets underway."

Players to Watch:

- Lance Franklin (Champion player)
- Brent Renouf (Could well make his debut this year)
- Luke Hodge (Another champion player)
- Rick Ladson (Underated player and could well follow in the steps of Hodge)
