Data from footywire. To check the draft order see the thread here.

Footywire says: "While we make every effort to keep up to date with player contracts, it is likely that our data may at times be out of date, incomplete or inaccurate. If you find any player contracts that need updating, please let us know using our brand new contract submission form."

Butters will be the target you would think.

They could come for Merrett again but I doubt it.

Lost some depth this off-season so will need to see what what the untested players are like to see where their needs (other than midfield) are.

If Day can't get over that nasty navicular injury, their midfield is almost as bad as ours now that they have also lost Worpel.
We do have MacKenzie, Ward and Butler who all have plenty of growth in them. Day will play through multiple positions, rather than full-time mid.

Plus I expect to see Watson at the centre bounce more going forward as he’s shown to change things up in there.

It will be interesting to see if they trade their first pick into 2026 to strengthen their draft hand for a 2026 bid for either Butters or Merrett, or take it to the draft. At the moment I doubt if Port matched in 2026 and forced a trade whether Hawthorn could fulfill Port's trade requirements (assuming they finish top 8) without adding to their 2026 and later draft hands. Clubs aren't going to rate 2027 and 2028 picks.

Hawks should definitely take a pick this year, trades are going to be near impossible with future picks so under valued due to tassie coming in and the rigged draft with father sons and academy.

Hawks will take their first pick to the draft, as there is 2-3 players that they are keen on.
Should they all be gone at that pick they will trade back or out, but it remains to be seen which club would do a trade.

Lots to work with next year in regards to draft capital.

The move to only having two picks for matching might hurt to move them up for a higher pick but they might be quite valuable once the draft starts and players start to slip.

I highly doubt we are holding those picks by draft night.
