Tom Mitchell is pretty good.
Sicily has kicked a lot of goals foe someone of so few games
O'Brien is now showing signs and his stats are outstanding for someone of such a low game tally

So there's four.
Tom Mitchell is 24, for plenty of clubs that is very much one of the senior players.

You're right. Tom is a veteran......time to retire him
Yeah coz that is what was said.

When Carlton are talking about their young talent you reckon they are talking about Sam Docherty (another younger than T.Mitchell and in a leadership group) or Silvagni, Cripps, Curnow, Weitering, McKay, Petreski-seton, Marchbank?

I think they are talking about anyone under 23-24. 24-29 would be in their prime and 30+ would be veterans. But to be honest I don't give a crap and was just stirring you up.

Your side has been full of aging champions maybe 24 seems like a young player when in AFL terms he is an established player. Obviously one who should play for another 8-9 seasons.

As someone previously stated docherty is younger than Mitchell but when we talk about our youth we don't mention him, he's seen as a more established player.

It might seem novel but I actually just look at their age.

great post. I bet hawthorne supporters read this and thinking oh shit
Blissfully ignored my post up to this point, which really isn't that surprising.

Basically the thread goes;

Hawthorn supporter: We aren't ******. We are fine, we've made the right moves to sustain success, you wait and see...
Everyone else: You are in big trouble list wise, the O'Meara trade was horrible, obvious to everyone.
Hawthorn supporter: We've won premierships *excuses, excuses, excuses, excuses*. Nothing to see here.
Everyone else: Righto...

Sounds like O'meara is cooked tbh, so glad he chose hawthorne over us. He must be loving it though, don't play and still get 700-800k a year, gets to drive an audi, play 3-5 games a year. Good on him I say
Almost as good a deal as getting paid 1 mill not to coach for a year and doing an MBA in Paris while your patsies go down for drug cheating.

We've certainly not got much of a chance of bringing in 3 players like that this year from the draft, but with a kid like Burton who is playing his 20th game of football at any level since August 2014, developing as well as he is after missing so much footy, there's plenty to suggest that we might find them in other ways.
There is more to suggest that you will not in one year.

Just thinking you will is denying the rebuild that needs to occur. More troubling is you area Hawk is that Clarko still seems to think that he is in top up mod rather than rebuild mode now as well.

This is actually not the time to be chasing high profile players and if the Hawks go down that it will it will only lengthen the time required to rebuild rather than shorten it.

Plus with Hodge and Burgoyne booth cooked one star will not even address that both are going. And I personally doubt that the Hawks will actually land anyone of note anyway.

You've misread the post. I wasn't meaning that we'd find them all in one year.

I actually believe he would be feeling quite the opposite. When you play for a football club you never want to let them down (be it local or professional level). Jaeger would be starting to feel some intense internal pressure to get back on the park and deliver given the salary he has commanded and what that means for the club/himself.

I just hope he has the right support networks both at the footy club and in his personal life to overcome this latest setback.

There you go assuming the rebuild is to another four flags in eight years standard team. The task isn't that big, even if it seems to be Continually too hard for the saints blues demons tigers bombers kangaroos

Others:
You can only really get good players via
The draft
Hawks:
Ok that's why we drafted seven in 2015
Others:
Yes but they're no good
Hawks:
But we got them through the draft like you said. And it's too soon to tell
Others:
Oh it takes several years of drafting average players to be any good as a team
Hawks:
Oh I see. And with some teams they actually get steadily worse over many many years. That must suck

What makes you think Hawk supporters expect it to turn around in one year. Most of us expect us to be worse next year before starting the climb back up somewhere in the next 2-3 years. All we are saying is it won't necessarily take 5-10 years to make it happen. Our first draft pick is in the mid 30's, this year is the perfect year to target free agents, and trades if a decent one comes up. Every year is the right year to bring in elite talent if you can manage it. We can hit the draft hard for the next 2-3 years. No one knows how this going to play out but it astounds me how oppo fans can not understand why hawk fans would put faith in the club which has proven it knows how to assemble a premiership list on multiple occasions over the last 10 years, over the supporters of teams who have done nothing in recent history apart maybe bringing the game into disrepute.
