Just repeating what jaeger and clarko and the club have been saying.

"Its not about this year its about the next 10."
"we see him as a 10 year player for us"

What the hell are you on about???

The investment lasts for as long as the contract.
Right now he isn't '12 weeks into a ten year contract'. He is about nine months into a four or five year one with a negative return on investment and significant loss of opportunity costs.

There were options.

I think JOM is worth the punt though. Just my opinion.

No doubt he was in 2014.

What level does he need to get to in your view for it to be seen as worth the cost?

I'm assuming better than Tom Mitchell (who is a class player himself).

He needs to get to Bont/Cripps levels etc...

He has time we dont need it this year or the next, but by the time we are pushing for finals he needs to be one of our cornerstones. Ill be the first to call it a bust if he doesn't live up.

Just not 12 weeks in haha.

Hardly a 'punt', more like a certainty!

After all it was only (pick swaps) and can't forget Burgoyne.

Possibly a template to look for could be a Judd in terms of how he reinvented himself at Carlton after his groin injuries and became a contested ball beast.

Probably want him playing regular footy next year, and then another full pre season before he can get back to a somewhat elite level.

Yes i agree if there is still extended stints (simular injury only) on the sidelines next year is be more worried then i am now.

Judd comparison makes sense (not saying he will become that good) but if he needs to reinvent himself the judd template is as good as any.

You still sooking?

You're using World of Warcraft taunts...gee really stings.

Lolololololololo

Finally understanding the mindset of the Hawthorn fan isn't sooking, its enlightening.

To be fair though, if Collingwood ever won 3 flags in a row, I too would probably buy whatever they were selling me afterwards too!

Fair chance many would.

Brisbane are a good example of 3 flags being no guarantee of future automatic flags

It's factually incorrect to say it is his patellar tendon. The patella and patellar tendon are different structures that require different management, rehabilitation, require different amounts of time for rest etc. yes he has in injury to the patella that is true but it is not his tendon which is he structure that he had surgery on. Geez with your attitude to obtaining factual information you could get a job at the Herald Sun.
LOL..IF you bothered to look at when I first posted this you would realise that I was factually correct at the time as the online releases were stating patellar tendon.

Geeze with you condescending attitude you could get a job in the Hawthorn fitness Department tasked with spinning it to the Hawks fans.

Glad that you are happy that he has a new injury. Loved the way the Hawthorn spun this as a good news story and the way the Hawks fans have lapped it up. I mean according to the faithful it is evidently simply wonderful that JOM gets to miss half a season with a new patellar injury.

can we stop pissing on each other over attendances and get back to Hawthorn currently having pick 34 as their first pick in the 2017 draft?
Certainly. So pick 34 this year is the first opportunity towards filling the holes left by the old remaining warhorses like Gibson, Bagoyne, Hodge, Roughnut. Throw in the sun setting on the likes of Birchall and Cyril, coupled with peg leg O'Meara and Tyrone "Sebago" Vickery, list cloggers like Hartung, Shooey, Whitecross, O'Rourke, Pittonot and you get a feel for how miserable the Hawks supporters are feeling right now. Good on em for turning up occasionally.

So, describe an early draft pick in the same terms

As I keep saying no need to replace each and every one to the same level. If we did, watch out AFL it might be a fourpete or fivepete next time
