Just like last years thread, whatever Barrett has to say is not Hawthorn in the media.

Couldn’t care less for his shit takes, they don’t belong here.

I don't get the notion of us getting a soft draw compared to the Lions, either. By my reckoning we both played Coll, Melb, WC, GC, Geel, St.Kilda and Adelaide.

Our draws only differed for three teams. Lions played Nth (1), Bulldogs (12) and Sydney (15), compared to us playing Freo (5), Rich (7) and GWS (16).

They played two top 8 teams, both at home. We played three, all away.
Lions actually had the easiest draw.

I love the saltiness from the Lions, not worth winning if you don't make some have a childish cry and throw the toys out of the cot! The amount of money Hawthorn have indirectly thrown into the pot, via AFL, for their clubs development is in the 10's of millions. Happy to play "nah na nah na nah an!"

I listened because Gabelich was on it but couldn't believe what he-who-can't-be-named was saying - it's like he's a completely different bloke!

He'll be apologising for his 'tanking' nonsense soon - alright, that might be expecting too much!

He changed his commentary about us from around halfway through the season. Typical footy media person has gone from 1 extreme to the other. Will probably tip us for the flag next season after tipping us for the spoon this year

It's almost like he's trying to personify the adage that you pay no attention to media when they're saying good or bad things about you.

It's absolutely meaningless with him imo.

Reading a blank page would likely reveal more about the reality of our position in season 2025.

Barret has only jumped on the bandwagon because most of his media mates and associates have jumped on. He doesn't want to be left out in the cold and constantly defending his comments.
The minute it's perceived we aren't performing to the level they expect from us he'll be right out there again with his criticism and holier than thou attitude towards us.

Cry me a river dickhead.

Presuming Robbo is going to petition the AFL to retrospectively hand back *'s 1989 McClelland Trophy when they failed to win a flag, or even make a grand final, in any grade.

Cry me a river dickhead.

Probably going to be an unpopular opinion in here, but I think he's right, but for the wrong reasons. It's always been a H&A based award. What happened in finals is completely irrelevant. Also, I wouldn't say it's a "disgrace". It's just a quirk of how they've defined it.

Our collective H&A performance across both comps is impressive given both lists are on average quite young and inexperienced, but ultimately it is a tad embarrassing to be named "champion club" for H&A performance when we weren't even minor premiers of either H&A season.

The rules are what they are right now and our club deserves the award and money for meeting those conditions. But I think if we're honest with ourselves it should be changed for future years to be awarded separately to the minor premier of each comp. Something I think both our men's and women's teams will be able to achieve in the coming years anyway.

If/when they change the rules, our club will continue regardless of the jealousies. Our club tends to cause a lot of rules changes in the AFL when the opposition tears start flowing.

Just waiting on the next set of handicapping measures. It is the AFL at play.

Preseason storm in a teacup. Of course we deserved it - we won according to the rules. If people think another set of criteria would be better, change the rules. I have no problem with that.
