Doesn't youth mean young players?
Nah, here's the genius argument, if you are young and has stringed some games together, you are established so you don't count, if you are young but haven't got a few games under your belt you had no impact so you don't count either. See, nobody has any youth that counts, youth is a mirage.

Or...

There is 22 players on a team.

~10 premiership players/ senior players
~5-8 established players

~4-7 making their way.

Invariably the 4-7 making their way are youngsters. I know, shock horror
Equally shocking, some youngsters make it to the first 2 categories. A mystery I know.

Even if Tom Mitchell gets 200 possessions a game, he isn't going to make up for it, if 4-7 players don't or can't contribute.
If you want to compete with teams like Richmond, your last 6 picked need to contribute (1) because your top 16 can't and won't do it on their own. (2) because teams like Richmond have 22 contributors.
Look at Puopolo, proof that you can have zero footballing ability, all you have to do is occasionally duck for a free kick and lay a tackle or two and you too can call yourself a premiership player. Not a single Hawthorn youngster has been able to dislodge even Puopolo from the team. All they have to do is duck for free kicks and tackle, no takers.

I'm a little disappointed in your response WWSD, resorting to the infantile is not normally your go..
Hey No#37.. You have less likes than you have posts. WWSD has 16k posts and 30k likes. I know whose opinion I'd be listening to..

2015 oldest premiership team ever on hottest GF day ever.

Players are serviceable older these days. Youth schmouth. Plenty of perpetually young teams stinking up the bottom of the ladder, they don’t need the hawks down there

You are now going to claim Poppy has no footballing ability, each comment you find new ways to amaze me. Not wrong that this is probably his worst year, but he is still averaging a goal a game and is still a very good pressure forward.

That’s triple premiership player Puopolo. Even more astounding someone with no ability could be selected in three premierships

Particularly as the team already had two outstanding small forwards in each of the threepeat finals

So....... not a single Hawks fan can put forward an argument about how/why the Hawks youth is going to step up, you're all just basically agreeing that your youth doesn't have the capability to step up. All we've seen is the usual Buddy bashing, delusional Cyril worshipping and troll after troll not contributing anything to the discussion.

It might go some way to explaining why we get the absolutely moronic suppposed expert commentary from the ex-Hawks in the media. It must be a Hawthorn thing. I/We won a flag so we can dribble any nonsense. Dunstall and Brereton obviously lack the intelligence to string together a sentence, come on Hawks fans you can do better.

The Hawks game plan works at its best when individuals sacrifice individual success for the team. Only need to play your role.

To step up, the Hawks youth are only required to play their role.
How and why they can is because their role requires only vanilla.
They are playing because of what they can already do, not because of a need of more.

The need of more is the role played by the experienced players, who have already excelled at the vanilla.
Further success will be determined by how they step up.

Opportunity is the first step.

The hawthorn rebuild is a an absolute myth. Will probably depart in straight sets if they do fall into the top 4 by virtue of their easy draw compared to the other challengers. Seriously, imagine what Richmond will do to them in the first week if they land 4th? Christ, Will be difficult to recover from in time for week 2.

Rebuild does not mean, missing finals one year, then winning the Grand final the next. To make top 4 or at least challenge for it after what many considered to be a long road ahead for Hawthorn fans is pretty impressive.

To think Collingwood can make finals without beating a team in the 8 - it's possible if Melbourne lose to WCE and GWS.

Better than Collingwood. Who have the best home and away record but the worst finals record. Hawks are the opposite (granted not played Richmond at all and Collingwood rarely)

Seriously it’s about getting finals experience as a new team. Richmond have 21 straight at the mcg they just need 4 more. They will win

4th two weeks out unlike your mob have been competitive with all the top teams. Next year the team will return in full and with the addition with addded free agents will only improve.

Thanks RC...a sensible and reasoned response.
See Hawks fans, it's not that hard.

Backtracks, claims everyone else has.

You beat Saints by 4 points for goodness sake. Soft draw much?

So we're clear, your youngsters are still vanilla and/or bog ordinary.

Could the Swans knock you out of the top 4, leaving you to get knocked out of the finals by the Cats?

Should that happen it will be followed by 3 weeks of sniping from Derrr-muttt the dog and Dumb-stall and probably Matthews as well...because it's the Hawthorn way to be sore losers.

Did you miss Worpel who had 27 disposals, 5 clearances and 1 goal? Nash who was playing only his second game had 16 disposals, 6 marks, 7 tackles, 1 goal and 2 behinds.

Hawthorn are a very good chance of beating Sydney this week. No Smith and Johnson means Gunston and Breust will be a handful.

Had 32 against Carlton and got dropped.

Small forwards at the SCG?

Coming off 3 wins in a row against top 4 teams we will be as confident as can be.

Maybe if ‘rohan’ comes back? Like I said swans always in finals, but as effective as a speed bump
