B: Gary Ayres, Kelvin Moore, Albert Mills
HB: Colin Austen, Chris Mew, Peter Knights
C: Dipper, Jim Bohan, Brendan Edwards
HF: Graham Arthur, Dermott Brereton, Gary Buckenara
F: Jason Dunstall, Peter Hudson, John Platten

R: Don Scott, Michael Tuck, Leigh Matthews
I: Chris Langford, Ian Law, Paul Salmon, Roy Simmonds

No Andy Collins or Shane Crawford. I think Andy Collins can feel a bit stiff missing out. Paul Salmon was a shock...only played the 100 games at the club and gets in the best team ever!!! Mind you Crawford is a brownlow medallist!!!

Austin McCrabb was under serious consideration, but I don't think he played enough games. I was hoping we might see Shane Stevenson or Bohdan Jaworski.

Paul Salmon getting in that side is a bloddy disgrace. What about my son Terry not to mention Crawford and Martello.Paul Salmon must be the biggest brown nose EVER to play for the Hawks.....THEY CAN STICK THERE CLUB UP THIER ARSE

Congrats to the Big Fish - shows what a legend he was (for both us and the Hawks).
Must admit, I was surprised not to see Crawf get a run....

Am I the only Essendon supporter that was sad when ol' Barry left us?

Remember when he and Carey had that 'conversation' about his 'pillow business' back in 1999 (Ess V North)?

Priceless!!!

agree mate. He played best at Essendon.

Shane and his teammates are in the team of the century, the 21st century. Starting with a club record 20 wins (H&A) and a premiership in 2001. This feat will also devalue the efforts of Essendon in 2000.

bring it!!!! salmon also was a rabbit at essendon, just an avg forward if that, and became an absolute gun ruckman with hawthorn and proved sheedy was too pig headed/stubbon to give him a go!!! 2 b&f as a ruck!!

inspiring stuff

#19 hand of god. diego

How would that devalue the efforts of Essendon in 2000?

Thew selection of Salmon is certainly, er, 'courageous' to say the least.

I can't belive he was selected when there is no place in the squad for Andy Collins, Rodney Eade, Terry Wallace, Ray Jeinke, Peter Crimmins, David Parkin either of the Jarmans and the best they could do for Chris Langford was on the bench ?

hmmmmmmm

Either of the Jarmans? Have i missed something here! Did Andrew slip into the state in cognito and play 100 odd games for us LOL. All in all i reckon it was a pretty well picked side, i dont know who Jim Bohan is, so i would have picked Wallace personally, but i trust the guys that selected him knew a bit more about his history.

How many premierships did Greg Dear ruck Hawthorn to? More than Handbag Scott, that's how many.

And Platten was a better rover than Leigh Matthews. Matthews played his best football as a forward pocket.
