FWIW here's my personal and i think honest opinion on the GF.If you guys had've kicked straight in the 2nd Q i think the result would've been different particularly with Croad going down ,but you didn't and we capitalised big time and confidence is a big factor. You smashed us in the middle but your forward line looked inadequate

i agree, if we had kicked straight the scoreboard pressure would have been on the hawks and you may not have got the 2nd wind in the 3rd that turned the tide.

i dont believe everything i hear, i am quite cynical. but i also believe that where there is usually smoke there is fire.

if no one has had 3 strikes then you're saying there could be some on 1 or even 2??

Well it's a fact there are a handful of players walking a fine line on 1 or 2 strikes (14 I think was reported in the papers a month ago). It is not disclosed what club they are from so they could be from Hawthorn. Though at the same time it's just as likely they could be from any of the other 15 clubs. Drug use is rife in society and footballers are part of that society.

If you take 700 random people from all over the country and stick them in a room, you will find there is a percantage of those people who take drugs reguarly. Just like footballers on AFL lists. There are about 700 AFL footballers from all over the country and there are bound to be some of them who indulge in drug use.

That's correct to an extent. Hawthorn are the fittest side in the comp and often start slow and then run over the top of teams. There is still a fair chance the scoreboard pressure wouldn't have made a difference but we will never know either way. At the same time you can't blame inaccurate kicking for the loss as Geelong had 23 scoring shots off the BOOT to Hawthorns 25.

It was the pressure of Hawthorns midfielders that meant the Cats midfielders gave poor delivery to the Cats forwards and then the Hawks backs were able to expose Geelongs fragile forward line. The GF was only the 2nd time all year Geelongs midfield had pressure put on it and both times it cracked. Geelong are still a very good side though and I'm sure Mark Thompson and the boys will rectify those problems next year. Look forward to more classic matches between the two sides in 09:thumbsu: Maybe even a GF re-match :D

yep, we will never know what "would have happened" had the cats kicked straighter.

the cats midfield dominated the 2nd quarter and half of the 3rd and the delivery bad. our forwards just didnt take their chances in front of goal.

we threw everything at hawthorn and they weathered it and then hit us with the sucker punch of 5-6 goals in 5 minutes.

and now you guys look like picking up ROK your forward line will be even more potent.

Our boys hit Geelong harder than anyone has and i don't think the Cats were up for such physicality on the day.

debatable. pies game we were never in - unlike the gf.

all week "physicality" was talked up so i canna see how it woulda been glossed over on gameday.

shit happens, that is all.
