You think only Cats fans have an axe to grind against Hawthorn?

There's almost no such thing as a "nuetral" poster on Bigfooty, especially when it comes to Hawthorn winning another flag.
Ask Chief if he wants the shit fights to stop. I'd say he is happy for endless Cat/Hawk banter.
We have an 800 page thread in the Bay for a reason ;)

It's about proportion, anyway was a light hearted comment.

Of course there isn't!! We each want ''our'' team to win. Use rational instead of neutral and your argument has no legs

Every rational poster admires what Hawthorn have been able to achieve over the last 3 years and their record this year. Absolute team of champions who have an opportunity to do something even rarer in this age of ''equalisation''. Doesn't mean we don't want our team to win.

Great, rational post amongst the ideological inanity. I prefer the term 'champion team' however...

Not really, you're still 3 flags shy of us (will be 4 this year) and have about 10 more wooden spoons
I see the drugs aren't working.

Worried about you mate. I think it's time you sought professional help. Call these guys before your hatred & denial consumes you totally.

I'm guessing school wasn't compulsory where you grew up as everyone knows 16 is a greater number than 13.

Don't joke about mental illnesses though for real, that's pretty poor form.

Where I grew up, we favour literacy over numeracy. VFA has different letters to VFL.

However if you want to play the numeracy game, and include irrelevant flags in different competitions, then we still win:
22 Hawthorn vs 19 Geelong once we add in pre-season/night flag wins.
The difference is , we are not insecure enough to beg the AFL to add night flags to our list of premierships. Only Geelong would do something like that.

No see when Geelong won their VFA flags, the VFA was the premier competition in the country which is why they count. Night flags are exactly that, night flags from basically a practice competition.

More relevant than Geelong's 7 VFA flags used to get them to a flag count of 16. At least the night flags are played against teams in the same league as the VFL/AFL.

More relevant is that Geelong's VFA flags were awarded for finishing top of the ladder rather than winning a grand final (except for one exception against Melbourne). I'm sure this suited Geelong given how mentally soft the club has proven to be in Grand finals.

Lets say we count your VFA flags (which is obviously a sad joke), Hawthorn has still won 13 grand finals compared to your 10. 13 > 10. There is a reason we now call finishing on top of the ladder "minor" premierships. Back in the old days they called them flags. Congratulations on your minor premierships in the VFA.

I didn't understand it. Put it into google translate. Came out as "I'm very insecure, and my signature references another team's amazing success in the VFL/AFL, while referring to several minor premierships won back when state footy was called 'Intercolonial matches'".

The VFA (now VFL) was a separate competition to the VFL (now AFL) competition. Being the "premier competition" at the time doesn't change the fact that it's not and never has been a part of the current stream of VFL/AFL.

Port Adelaide's SANFL flags were won when the SANFL was the premier competition for SA teams. Yet they weren't and aren't counted in their VFL/AFL flag tally because - surprise, surprise! - those aren't VFL/AFL flags.

You of course already know all this.

Unfortunately the percentage of rational posters on BF is about 10%.

yeah of course, 0 in 4 > 13 in 102
Yeah I didn't think you'd have a good response for that one.

How embarrassing for Geelong that even when we humour you by including both clubs VFA/VFL history into the VFL/AFL equation - where you got close to half your flags in a competition with half a dozen suburban teams LOL - that Hawthorn STILL have a better rate of winning flags! And that's despite Hawthorn having to build their club the hard way for decades.

Suburban teams? The same suburban teams still play in the AFL, although one of them moved to Sydney

How the hell does Geelong have 16 flags???

Essendon and Carlton both have 16, followed by Collingwood on 15 and then us on 13.

GEELONG HAVE 9 PREMIERSHIPS.

Why do Geelong supporters continue to persist to be so insecure and need to make up facts in order to feel relevant.

Listen here Geelong fans, you had a really good period between 2007-11, no one can take that away from you. Winning three flags in the space of 5 years is a tremendous effort but when it comes down to being one of the most successful clubs of all time you are not even anywhere near in this discussion.

Be a happy club with your past achievements and if you win 3-4 more flags then we'll begin to entertain you with a conversation about which club is better.

Aint joking about mental illness at all. I am sincerely worried about you.

Back to the topic at hand. By your reckoning you have 16. Then you must consider Port's wins in the SANFL to be fair.

That would make them the GOAT in your eyes. Is that right?
