Rioli, Gunston, Frawley.....even if I stop there, that's a very handy group of "mid-aged guns" you can build around who have plenty of years left.

Not even taking into account blokes like Stratton, Bruest, Smith and Shiels who all have 5+ years left.

Put a tall forward back into the team, continue to develop Burton and Sicily, recruit T.Mitchell, JOM and Vickery.... Hawthorn will be very competitive again in 2017.
When we won our last flag Hawkins and Selwood were 23 and Taylor was 25. That's a key plank in each area of the field. The only players close to that for the Hawks were Breust and Gunston and they're nowhere near the structural keys like a power forward, key defender or midfield general are. You're right Hawthorn will be competitive next year because they're keeping the gun older players. But the playing group younger than Gunston (almost 25) doesn't have a single proven player better than a role player. Geelong were just lucky we could rely on Selwood to lead our midfield and Hawkins to lead our forward line while rebuilding.

Frawley had Lake holding his hand, the GF especially was 3 Hawks on Josh Kennedy whenever it was kicked to him.

He's been found out a bit this season.
Mate, you have no idea. None.

Frawley was in the best half a dozen defenders in the comp this year, and should be expecting a top 5 BnF finish for us.

I bet you've had to recite this back to yourself multiple times since 2012....and now you're trying to convince yourself that Hawthorn are completely done. It's cute.

I think you should read this post though.

So which other great sides have been more impressive?
.....Geelong :)
If we win it this year it'll be 4-4 but we will have a far superior winning % and an even greater H2H. There cannot be an argument.
Even if we don't win it I'll still believe it and don't think one off day in 08 should change it as significantly as some people think.
4 is better than 3 though and I would prefer to have that even if I think the side with 3 was the better side overall.
A threepeat is great but it is just that....3. You don't get bonus flags for winning a few in a row.
Eg Adelaide 97-98 who gives a crap about that?

Btw I think Lions were better but lose points due to concessions. Hawks of 80's were better.
Essendon from 99-01 at their peak were better except they choked in a prelim which could have easily happened to the Hawks.
Adelaide 97-98 No

Your delusion is hilarious. Geelong could never so much as keep their shit together to back up any of their flags. And the idea that the 2007 flag has anything to do with a potential 2016 flag is ******* stupid.

Be happy for your great era, but history will see Geelong 07-11 as a dominant side, but not an invincible one, as Hawthorn 13-15 will be viewed.

Frawley keeps the best forward in the comp goalless twice in 12 months, but it's becuase of the other inform players around him.

Kind'a like how every single player in our side has been described as only being good because they play in a good side.

I love the shit some of you guys have had to come up with to deal with how good we've been for so long.

Hawthorn isn't a good side anymore, without Roughead and Lake holding up each end of the ground and with half your midfield past its used by date, the plodders in your team have been exposed. Frawley is serviceable but not great, same as Gunston - once Mitchell, Hodge, Gibson and Burgoyne retire and with Hill, Breust and Sicily likely leaving this year I wouldn't be surprised to see Hawthorn in the bottom 4 in 2018.

You have got to be kidding me mate so your saying Frawley was as good as McGovern, Tarrent , D.Talia , Rance , Shaw and Doherty comparing Frawley do the best defenders in the comp is a massive insult to those players who are good unlike frawley...

Some of these hawk supporters are a little hypocritical given that their club was at the forefront of 'injecting science' in the early 2010s. They were even warned by the AFL some of their methods looked like blood doping.
You do understand the difference between a medical program approved by the AFL (despite your insinuations to the contrary), and administered by qualified professionals, and injecting your players with drugs you bought from the mad sports scientist Dank, who had been advising you via Robinson over several seasons?

I find it ironic you bring up the fully approved Hawthorn blood injections. It was exactly the same deflection Bomber's fans tried on.

Geelong won a massive one flag in a row, then fell away, then won a flag, then fell away, then won another flag and then fell away and missed finals....but you have them as better than a side who played off in 4 straight GF's and won 3 in a row.

Your delusion is showing.

Buddy I'm just referencing the doctor in charge of the hawthorn injection program.
He was warned by the AFL the injections had to be done a certain way or it was blood doping. Look it up if you don't believe me!

It's somewhat of a tradition - we used to get it too :thumbsu:

Having to abide by an AFL protocol and "some of their methods looked like blood doping" is not the same thing.

How easily one can twist words to suit their own bias....in 2008 we 'fell away'? We reached the GF!!! Yet in your argument you try and say that reaching a GF and not winning adds to the Hawks greatness! In your words, this just showed that they weren't good enough that year.

Geelong won 3 flags and lost a GF in a 5 year period, just the same as Hawthorn!

You might be right, but if you are, prepare for a rude awakening next week given how unconvincing your QF victory over us was. If you rely on a player missing an easy shot after the siren to get over a bunch of plodders, then you are well and truly cooked. Fortunately for your club, I think you're wrong, and either of the two teams from our QF final would have been worthy preliminary finalists. Lets see if you can make the most of it, would be sad to see Geelong **** up yet another grand final given their already poor record in that area.
