Seemed almost like a passing of the torch match, the Frankenstein monster just slaughtered them. They are showing a typical pattern of a great team on it's last legs - winning close games which is papering over the cracks but looking like they are falling off the pace ala Cats 14, Lions 05, Roos 00. Last year they started slowly, however they were all close losses, whereas this year teams are able to sit on them for long periods of the game, they just don't have that invincible aura anymore and age is catching up with them. Their percentage is telling of this.

Are they still favorites in your view?

Unfair to write them off just yet, everyone around them could look just as shaky as they do at various stages this year

Not sure there is a single obvious alternative favourite

Why... just why would someone create this thread. Of course Hawthorn are still the favourites. Write them off in your peril. You don't win premierships in April...

I said GWS gave me a Geelong 2007 vibe. Hawthorn give me a Freo 2015 vibe. Where lucky narrow wins are disguising the reality of a declining team coming back to the pack. They're 4-2 on paper but they deserve to be 2-4 or 3-3 at best.

They've had more success in the last 3 years than some teams have had in a century. Well and truly time for different teams to take their place.
