Not sure why hawks fans think they can get pick 15 when pick 16 cost port more than their future first.

Adelaide would be happy to trade it for 23 I’d guess. Hard to see a club before that who would be keen.
Well depending on needs other clubs may ask for more or less.

I think Richmond at 19 might be interested. Would largely depend on where the club thinks the Hawks may finish next season. Richmond or the Suns may be willing to gamble on us being s**t next season.

No chance GC would give up #15 for Hawks future 1st

GC are looking to use #20+#15 to get into 5-10 range

Only club i see interested in Hawks future 1st would be Richmond with #19 and thats getting dangerous with the Finn bid

Lets just say Hawks finish 9/10 thats a pick thats pick #10

2020 pick #10 after Academy bids could be #13/#14 and this years #19 could be #21

I would rather take #21 in 2019 than #14 in 2020 and get the extra year into a Cooper Stephens / Trent Rivers

It could only be a live trade for the pick that is up for selection then and there (due to the Finn bid). Wouldn’t really matter if this trade happens before or after the Finn bid is it would be matched with a late pick either way.

Just dont see why Richmond would do that deal 6-7 place upgrade in a weaker draft at best
and With Frost, mitchell,Patton the hawks could finish 7th /6th and would just be wasting a year

personally think the hawks have a player around the 18-22 range they want
McGinness , Stephens , De Koning maybe

Could be missing something but why wouldn't Suns be keen to trade 15 for a future first. Likely Hawthorn imo finish 6-10 next year so say GC are trading pick 15 for pick 10. Unlikely Hawthorn finish top 4 and they lose the deal

Port gave up their future first and more for pick 16. So good coast wouldn’t accept less for pick 15.

Heaps of academy and NGAs in the top prospects so pick 10 could get blown out to pick 20.

So North Melbourne now 26, 27, 30, 47 & 84 in this draft as well as 2x 1st Rounders next year.

I can suspect North Melbourne have one of the two ideas:
  • They really value multiple players that are expected to go within that 25-35 range in this years draft; therefore prepared to to give up their 2020 R2 Pick (which would've been their 3rd pick in the draft due to their 2x2020 1st Rounders). Not sure who they value enough though to want to do that
  • That they are expecting Melbourne to bid on Tom Green and will try and do a trade with GWS for 26 (729 points), 27 (703 points) & 30 (629 points) for Pick 4.

If gws did trade 4 they would get offered way more than 26 27 and 30 for it...14 and 17 for example. No chance.

GWS must have a back up plan in case the Dees bid on Green. We may trade our 1st next year knowing we have the Dees.

Tipping this years draft period will more exciting than most.

IMO Hawthorn hold their future first until after the bid comes in, then trade in once their late picks have chewed up the points of the bid. I can see them aiming for the GC pick at the top of the 2nd round

Agree.

They can trade before the bid comes in if another team is willing. They just have to do the trade with the team up for selection. That way no one can bid and ruin their plans.

I can see an opportunity for North, with these picks. If Henry is bid on 8 for example, I can see Fremantle wanting to trade pick 10, for lower picks. So Fremantle trade 10 to North for picks 26 and 27 So then Fremantle uses picks 22 and 26 for Henry which then pushes up pick 27 for them.

Gold coast wants a top 10 pick, trades North pick 10 for picks 15 and 20 and a possible future pick. So North ends up with 15, 20 and 30 which wouldn’t be too bad of a result.

Why wouldn't Freo just do a trade with GC for picks 15 & 20 rather than 26 & 27?

With AFL assitant package of Pre listing academy players I can't see the point of GCS having too many future pick. The 10 rookie spots help won't last forever either.

that is a possibility, picks 15 and 20 would be burned in matching, while their pick 22 would be pushed up. Personally I can’t see clubs wanting to waste 1st round draft picks on matching bids, but you never know.

Freo will want to trade out, then back in again if they can manage it.
Eg: 10 + 22 for Gc future 11 + future 2nd.
Trade their future first and second for 15 & 20.
Bit lopsided, but they could work something out that’s much better for them than just swapping to later picks.

So would you swap 26,27 and north2020r1 for pick 4 and 60. I think is fair.

Rumours from actual North ITKs (not Dusty is coming 4 surez!) that Ed Vickers Willis has done a knee and is retiring, poor bastard.

Hence desire for a top 30 pick.

They wouldn't be fully burned though. The residual points from a bid at 8 being matched with 15 and 20 would leave Freo with picks 22 and 25, whereas matching with 22 and 26 leaves them with picks 27 and 47. It makes no sense whatsoever for Freo to trade with North if Gold Coast are willing to trade up.

Gould or De Koning a certainty if still available.
