It's a long drive from Geelong, but I'll be there.
Anyone else in the Geelong area want to car pool with me?
I'm a good driver... really I am.

Apparently there was one bloke on the field who had played over 50 games after half time: Nick Ries.
So, we did alright considering. Little did ok which is good news..

A good hitout. Treated well and truly like a practice match. The young guys were given the reigns after half time and gained some valuable experience one would think.

Williams, Croad, Bateman and Mitchell were dominant in the first half but didn't appear after the break. Changa looks is terrific touch right now - lets hope he finally stays fit. As for Croad, the question as to which end to play him still looks to be unsettled. Was excellent at CHF.

Bring on the real stuff.

ellis played the second half and was impressive when he got the pill. looks smooth and skilled.

birchall started on hirdy and got lost a bit, but thats to be expected, was impressive though, has footy smarts and is a good size. would expect to see him a bit this year.

mcglynn from our rookie list was really good in the second half.

clinton young was hard at it and continues to impress me.

chance and mitchell had leather poisoning in the fiorst half, and did not play the second half.

big max was good in the ruck and around the ground.

harry was lively around the ground and did some goos work on the wings.

we got alot more out of this than essendon did i beleive. i went with an essendon supprter who didn't think much of the bombers tonight.

the fact we were missing spider, richie, hodge, dixon, crawf, lewis, jacobs and barker from the starting line up and then rested mitchell, bateman, croad, smith and willo to only get done in the second half is promising. it especially says something about our younger guys. it was a great chance to see nearly all the players on our list in match conditions against more experienced opponents.

Yeah think Roughie played and had little influence.

Not a bad effort by the Hawks considering we played a lot of unknown potential and kids and we didn't have most of our star players. It's good to test out the depth.

Bailey: Won the ruck all night and looks like he could be our 2nd ruck option round 1, did nothing around the ground though.
Ball: solid game but rarely sighted.
Bateman: killed it first half, rested second half.
Birchall: started on hird and struggled, but came into the game after half time when hird went off.
Boyle: looked useles up forward then tried in defence and played a little better. overall a shocking game though, probably wont play round 1.
Brown: spent over 60% of the time on the bench and was rarely sighted when on the field.
Campbell: played on hille in defence and did a decent job, just got caught off gaurd a few times. looks a decent chance for a defensive role round 1 though
Croad: B.O.G playing at chf and looked incredible in the first half. rested after half time though.
Dawson: played on courtney johns who beat him overall. knowhere near the quality of game he had against perrie last week. 50% chance round1.
Ellis:very skinny, played second half and looked nervous at first.after he got into it he looked class. i can see why they compare him to dal santo.
Franklin: didn't do much, crashed a few packs, but didnt hold any marks. still yet to kick a goal this season.
Guerra: brilliant first half and reasonable second half but a few costly turnovers by foot.
Ladson: started slowly but then played very well. looking like he has come along way in the pre-season and im excited about his prospects.
Little: played first half on the bench, then came on and played ok from full forward, kicking 2 goals.
Miller: got a lot of touches, but still looks a little lost and doesnt have a very good football brain. dixon will replace him for round 1
Mitchell: brilliant first half and was best with croad.
Murphy: amazing first half on lucas and looks as if he will play round 1. went forward in the second half and didn't do much.
Ries:shocking game, handballs too often
Roughead:couldn't hold onto his marks, but presented very well.
Sewell: best 4 quarter performer, may play round 1 to tag medhurst due to brown being unavailable.
Smith: rarely sighted, rested after halftime.
Taylor: didnt do much at all, not a good enough forward option and didn't play ruck much due to bailey's dominance.
Tuck: good debut game off the half back flank. played second half and got a lot of good touches. looks a 50 game player already.
Williams: good first half kicking 2 goals. rested after half time.
Young: Not a very good game. gets the possesstions, but his foot skills were pathetic and he marks like his hands are made of stone.
Gilham: better tall defending option than dawson for round 1 if he is chosen as 1 of the 2 replacements for injury listed players.
Kane: shocking game.
McGlynn: didnt play first half. absolutely incredible second half, best player in the second half without doubt. he's come from knowhere and will probably be the preferred replacement over kane now.

Best: Croad, Mitchell, McGlynn, Bateman, Sewell

Ladson, Guerra, Murphy, Bailey and Ellis deserve a mention as well.

yes, i was really pleased to see some of the rookies and first year players out there like, birchall, ellis, mcglynn, gillham and bailey. all of them did some good things.
mcglynn really surprised me, never heard anything about him before last night but me and my mates were straight to the record after he had about 4 possies in his first 5 minutes.
