Hopefully we wont need it...

I think our best is as good as any team in the comp, but our depth is poor, as seen up to round 7.

Possibly the most top heavy team in football. After the best six the quality falls away alarmingly.

I don't agree that in a best 22 matchup Hawthorn is as good as Geelong, the Saints or Collingwood (at least). And I have no doubt at all that each of those three sides plus several more would cope far, far better with the loss of a a few top players.

Certainly proven in the case of St Kilda. Take Buddy and a starting midfielder out of Hawthorn and it'd get horribly ugly.

one thing ive learnt in the last month is hawthorn supporters come out of hiding about as quickly as they go into it.:thumbsu:

I think they will sneak into the 8 purely from the fact that the bottom 7 sides are ordinary so it leaves them and North fighting for the last spot. They will do nothing in September. Worst 6 game win streak i think i have ever seen. Would have lost on the weekend if it wasnt for Franklin's heroics and Hille missing. That means that they could easily have lost to Richmond, Port, Sydney and Essendon all at the MCG. Playing some real teams in the next month so the true level of the side will be revealed.
Seriously mate if hawthorn make the 8 they will cause considerable damage, by than everyone will be back playing. Dont be fooled by the way we are getting wins atm either, in 3 of those wins we should have won by alot more. We may have lost on friday nite if it wasnt for buddy but had we kicked straight early in the game we would have been miles in front. Im very confident we will put up a good show the next 4 weeks, we nearly beat the dogs early in the yr and if it wasnt for us having only 1 ruckman we probably would have. The key to our 6 game winning streak is having another ruckman available to help renouf. Because of this we are able to play the way we want to play and not be forced into playing a certain way. Our best footy is as good as anyone so anyone writing us off do so at your own peril.

name a club that has good depth, not only that name a club that has good depth when you lose alot of players. Have a look at how brisbane is going atm, been absolutely slaughtered by injury is it any wonder they are having a nightmare run?, no amount of so called depth would be able to cover such an extensive injury list. Stkilda does not have depth, we need to remember they have lost 2 players (riewoldt and gram), 2 very very important players but 2 player nonetheless, The style of play that teams like geelong and stkilda produce most weeks means players coming in do not get exposed. Every team is different and so is every game plan. Hawthorn need their best 22 on the park to pull off our style of play every week, thats just the way it is but too say we are down the bottom when it comes to depth on the playing list is stupid. Its the players you have out that are more important, We still have half a dozen players out of the side that are normally in our best 22, were still winning arent we? why? because its not in positions where we could get exposed on gameday i.e the Ruck and Key Backs.

You dont watch enough hawks games to make judgement calls like the first statement quite obviously,
This whole statement is a load of BS, Hawks best 22 is clearly and i mean clearly top 2 in the comp, Much better than the saints and pies, dude you need to take into account the style of play the saints and pies incorporate, if the saints play a geelong style of play they will lose more than they win. Buddy didnt play against port and we still won, that is not the area we can be exposed in u fool, had you said take a ruckman and a key back out of the side than yes i would agree Seeing as you dont know much about the hawks im prepared to cut you a bit of slack.

The last time they had Buddy and a starting mid out (Sewell) we belt the Dee's by 56pts, and beat Port without Franklin.

I don't think the quality falls away that alarmingly after our best 6 either.....Hodge, Rioli, Franklin, Burgoyne, Sewell, Mitchell> Roughead, Bateman, Young, Lewis, Brown, Osborne, Gibson> Renouf, Guerra, Hooper, Eliis etc etc. Take the top 6 from any side and the quality will decline. Geelong have the best depth in the comp but without their top 6-8, Ablett, Chapman, Bartel, Scarlett, Kelly, Selwood, Pods and Johnson, the talent does fall. I do agree though the star factor falls away quicker after the top 6 at Hawthorn, and any other side compared to a side like the Cats, but as a team, with our best 22, we can compete or beat them. Our best 22 is still without Gibson, Brown, Hooper and to an extent, Taylor/Bailey. Very handy in's

Anyhow, I think we're a 5-7 type side atm, baring injuries. If we happen to make a final or 2, great. With another couple of in's and an MCG final against the Pies or Cats...Who knows;)
