There is something ingrained in the great sporting teams, fighters and sportsmen that many others just don't have. The great organisations have it and pass it down to each generation. The New England Patriots, the San Antonoio Spurs, the Federers, the Nadals etc. Resilence, belief and a steely resolve. Hawthorn is undoubtedly one of those in the same mould. I'm not saying this on the back of the two Stirling wins that they had recently. It's more than that. The ability to shrug off losing 3 top premiership players and start poor yet push on to finish the year well and start this year even better than the back of last.

More so that they can go in as underdogs in Grand finals yet completely and utterly demolish the opposition. 1991, 2008 and 2014 they played the number one teams in the comp and gave them an almighty belting. It's a thing they have did regularly. Raise their game to another level when they look as though they're on the brink of defeat, or, win when they're not supposed to. The Hawks have the blueprint for success. It's in their DNA.

Not many teams have this resolve and fighting spirit. The hawks do however. It's early days but the way they've started this season, they've sent out an ominous warning.

Its two rounds in. They beat Collingwood who finished 13th a Geelong side by a point that didnt have a backline. Get your finger outta ya butt.
You can't read and understand a simple post.

Go back to school.

If you're serious... Then good thread. If you're just having a laugh... Even better! Love our rivalry and have a healthy respect for it.

Geelong fan can’t understand why superstar midfield surrounded by spuds didn’t decimate a side that had a more balanced talent pool.

Equates loss to “mental toughness”.

The only ominous warning was to Geelong that you’ve sold the farm for three magic beans.

Mate only the weak need to begrudge someone/something they duly deserve. Hawthorns history and success speaks for itself. You guys are great and yes the rivalry is second to none.

Hats off Hawkers!

No need to give the OP a hard time guys. Understand there’s been the usual dickhead banter between Hawks and Geelong fans with both sides trolling at times.

The thread idea is a good one. Hawthorn have been a pretty amazing organisation for the last 35-40 years. The dominance in the eighties followed by a leaner patch from 91-08 whereby there was some ups and downs, but since this century they’ve been unbelievablely powerful. They are by far the most successful club of the the last 60 years, and the most powerful in the competition right now.

It’s not going to be surprise me if they win another flag before about 10 other clubs.

I’ve honestly got no idea why Richmond & Collingwood are considered ‘big 4’ when Hawthorn & Geelong have been clearly more dominant force since say, 1989 or earlier.

Essendon I understand with 3 flags and a dominant nineties period whereby finals and good sides were the norm. Carlton have been strong up until 2001, but not Richmond & Collingwood. I’d argue West Coast & Sydney slot into the other big 4 spots along with Hawthorn & Geelong.

They will with that attitude.

Thank you for your compliments. I will take them on face value and accept them graciously.
Our determination and fighting qualities are absolutely factors in our success. Another factor is intelligent management, both in a footballing and financial sense. This cannot be underestimated either.

Please tell us what farm we gave up? Tired of reading this stupid narrative.

If you want to bag us for giving up draft picks fine - bag us for Henderson and Touhy and Stanley.

When Clarko takes the kids to Kokoda they dont run off and cry to the AFLPA.

Love it when posters just announce they are clueless to the rest of us. Cheers for that, we all know now how to view your future posts.

There is not one similarity in the approach of Hawthorn doing Kokoda and Melbourne doing their flog filled testosterone dominant alpha camps.
