I want to talk about these 2 players, and both will be getting positive supportive comments(of sorts)

Firstly david Haynes

Haynesy is here to stay i believe BUT for this to become reality we only have one thing to fix, his kicking. He presents, leads and marks bloody well and is a pleasure to watch in that regard, but in recent weeks its the next bit, the drop punt, that he struggles with. Now normally you'd say send em to the WAFL to work on kicking, but past has shown that is not the fix for Haynesy, so what? Well what we need to do is get him a set routine. Ive watched him and each shot he seems to have a different routine. Other players have had their kicking fixed and they put it down to setting a certain routine which they do with each kick (ie Lloydy and the grass throw even indoors). Get Suma to work on him getting a set routine for each shot, as at the moment only 1 in 3 of his kicks spin right. Otherwise he is a very good asset to our half forward line.

Now Trent Carroll

Trent did very well today, and it appears he has the favour of Woosha as he is still in the side. Now i think Woosha has decided Trent is going to be given full support, making him not worry about doing well as such and just going out their to do his best. This is what worked so well last year, now its Trents turn. So, because of this, ive decided to join Woosha and i urge others to at least consider it, and likewise support Carroll. he does put in good efforts, admittedly when we are going well, but it SEEMS he does have it in him to be a good defender, at least list worthy, so a bit of support could do him wonders. Heck late 2001 early 2002 we all wanted Green culled(well many did) and look how hes come back. So yes, as Carroll looks to be a permanent fixture, at least for now, in our backline, im gonna give him my full support along with Haynesy, and also push for CHIPPER!!! to be given a go:D as he is carving up in the WAFL

GO EAGLES!!!

haynes i have always thought would be a reasonable player but he does produce the bad kick when the pressure is off, carroll the coach seems to have made a statement iam not sure on him yet hope it all works for us

To be honest, I've always thought both were hacks.

But credit to Haynes, hes found a position he is suited to up forward, and provides strong leads and has safe hands. His kicking is still dodgy though.

Carroll was a very frustrating player to watch at Freo. Used to give away more 50m penalties than Croad, Farmer and Medhurst combined, and that's saying something. And they used to hurt because the opposition would get goals from them. He has looked suspect a couple of times this season (especially against the Hawks) but seems to be improving and now and working on his weaknesses. Also credit to him for constantly getting games at the Eagles. Would have been easy for him to throw in the towel and drift in terms of where his career is at, but he seems to have worked hard to get to where he is at the moment. Having said all that, still needs to work on some aspects on his game to stay in the side over the coming months.

Carroll and Haynes both played well today so it is hard to criticise them. Haynes certainly has a place in the side, whether it is in a forward pocket or at FF but he leads well and has fantastic hands. His kicking does need work but I think his other attributes override that.

Carroll seems to be in the coach's good graces but until he finds some consistency Im not sure if he will ever be able to hold down his spot. We do still have Collica to come into the side so he may be the one to get dropped??

Both played well today.

I agree with EKA on the set routine for shots at goal for Haynes. Also he must work on his second efforts and chasing as he will not play FF (where possibly the chase & second effort is least important on the whole ground) permanently.

Carroll must just concentrate and eliminate his tendency to make silly mistakes. Not all opponents will be as stupid as Trent Croad was today, so he must develop those footy smarts to not cede territory unnecessarily.

Confidence seems to come to all players in Woosha's sides as they have belief in the system. This will help both players.

Im still not sold on either

I think we've got better guys for key positions in the forward line than Haynes, plenty of them. I dont think his hands are as safe as everyone seems to think, and the less said about his kicking the better. Seems to be a front-runner type of player, goes well when everyone else is going well or when the sting is out of the game.

Carroll, well, despite his game against Croad, I still think he is a liability. Gives away far too many free kicks, and his disposal isnt too flash, especially under pressure.

As most can tell, I'm a HUGE fan of Haynes, i reckon he will be a good player, and today was his best performance of the season to date.

As for Carroll, he did OK today. I haven't quite finished my ratings yet, but he was somewhere down the bottom, but he still didn't play too badly. I want to see him tried as a forward. Once again today, his kicking was very good as always, which is something we dont have yet from either of our players around CHFs (Gaspar, Embley and Haynes).

While Carroll's marking is quite good, so I would like to see him tried at CHF, if for only one half of a match just to see how it works.

Haynes is a champion in the making (and also a shared adopted player) :D

I am stoked he is having his best season of AFL - he is definately more value than a 2nd round draft pick that St Kilda were offering us in a trade last year.

Haynes needs to do more with his second efforts - tackling, chasing, winning the ball at ground level.

David Haynes ( my shared adopted player) will be a permanent member of the side. He has very strong hands and is a booming kick - he is better on the run and needs to work on his set shots though.

As for Carroll - I used to shudder whenever I saw his name on the team list - but he is improving. I trust Woosha knows what he is doing with Trent. He was better that the "other Trent" yesterday too:D

Haynes will be good for us, he has what it takes imo. He needs to work on a few things but once he irons those things out he will be fine! He's a big strong guy that attacks the ball, always a positive imo!
Im still not sold on carrol, he plays some good games but then he plays some absolutely terrible ones (The Hawks match). Untill he gets some consistency back into his game I dont want him on the team, he's to risky imo. You never know which Carrol your going to get!

Carroll needs some time in the WAFL, and get Glass in there ( he's my 'adopted' player :D )

I reckon Woosha must know something we don't about Carroll. I'll trust his judgement, as he seemed to be on the money with Banners when he had a shocking start last year.

Uhuh I trust woosha, he hasnt made too many mistakes with regard to players in the last year and a bit. Usually he's right on the money!
When is he going to give porno a chance (he's my adopted player) though?? I notice he played alright in the WAFL on the weekend, got 4 goals. Whats the story with porno anyway?

Haynes has always had huge potential and it's starting to come through. He is versatile too, did a good job in defence in last quarter yesterday.

Carroll is mediocre but improving. Against average players he does well, against a top player he gets a bath.

And Croad was very average.

The best game ive ever seen Haynes play was last seasons final loss to Essendon. So far this year ive got to admit he can lead and mark ok, but his kicking is pretty dodgy, especially at set shots. Would like to see how he goes in the road trip this week before making up my mind about him.

Carroll is well.. Carroll. He tries hard, no doubt but he does the most stupid things at times. Woosha has shown huge faith in him and Carroll has at times repaid it. Should be tried in the forward line where his silly free kicks cant give away goals to the opposition.
