Personally, huge potential, and it bloody lived up to the hype. We have a great show on our hands

Yep was very good. I checked on the Wiki page which mentions that its an 8 episode season which would suggest subsequent seasons. Considering this I have no idea what direction it can go once they solve the more recent murder (assuming the do). Hopefully it doesn't take the Twin Peaks (season 2) route.

I loved the slow burn of it, the unique strangeness of lousianna mixed with the cold intrigue of the story was great for me,

reminded me very much of zodiac and seven, looking forward to the rest of the series

and a new murder, the longer it goes i think we will more likely see guest writers for different seasons, becoming a vehicle for crime writers,

lets just hope it doesn't go underbelly and get progressively worse with each new season

Agree with others. Strong opening.

Some really great writing and the creepiness of Louisiana is great for a show like this.

I'm a big Woody Harrelson and McConaughey fan so I'm really looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Show gets bonus points for Michelle Monaghan's arse.

Anyone got any early theories?

I think the detectives seem to have hinted that they think that McConaughey did the deed (by constantly getting Harrelson to explain/describe McConaughey's character outside of work, etc.

There is no doubt that Harrelson is have an affair with that Lawyer Clerk when she bought in those documents.

My early theory is that the murdered could potentially be Harrelson. My only evidence of this is I think Michelle Monaghan said "I haven't see you in two days." The second day was the day they found the victim, but it never explained why he wasn't there on the first day.

You may be right. I think that would be a mistake though. It would be too obvious to have a twist that one of the investigating cops did it. I imagine there will be a lot more layers and characters to be introduced over the next few episodes.

Very strong start to the series. The way it was presented (stylistically) was very impressive. Obviously the director is quite accomplished with his previous work. I actually found it hard to follow in parts but I guess that's what makes a great mystery show. The two leads are really interesting. Great choices made so far.
