Don't diss 'The Killing'.

I didn't mean to say The Killing was bad. I meant that this to me looks similar and will hopefully be better. But it's early days so it may turn out to be nothing like The Killing.

...

My early theory is that the murdered could potentially be Harrelson. My only evidence of this is I think Michelle Monaghan said "I haven't see you in two days." The second day was the day they found the victim, but it never explained why he wasn't there on the first day.

I thought she said "they missed you the last 2 days" just referring to his daughters not seeing him due to him getting home late from work. Would be disappointed if the murderer turned out to be Harrelson's or McConaughey's character, pretty cliche.

Good opener, left me wanting more. Present day McConaughey is mesmerising, like watching a car crash in slow motion.

Feel like we have only scratched the surface of this show so far, yet there's only 6 ep's left of the story. Should be some real development soon. It's got the same landscape "sheen" as BB.

it's a slow burn. i reckon all of the clues will come together though.

i hope they don't introduce the killer in the last episode. also hope that they don't leave an open ending

Interesting that if it goes to a 2nd season, it's a completely new cast. Have just watched the first episode and loved it, but now that I know it's only 8 episodes with this story, I'll be hanging out each week for it!

The writer has quite clearly said that each series will be self-contained, with a beginning, middle and end to the story.

But then they'll realise the photo was fake and they got the wrong guy:)

The fact they're keeping it to one season is what has me most excited about it (and the fact the story is awesome so far(and matthew mccanaughy is so cool(and the setting is perfect (and woody's mistresses boobs were fnatastic (and banshee amish chick in a surprise appearance))))) I love pretty much everything about this show and it's ruining my punctuation.

Can't wait for next week.

Watched the first ep. Looks very good, could be excellent.

I read somewhere that people are anticipating this kind of format - sort of like a long mini series which is completely self contained - will be consumed by people in a couple of sittings. a great slab of fully realised drama - like 10 hours of it.

Yes, I love it too. Can't get enough of it myself. Beautifully conceived and realised.

Woody, gets some.

If this was a Netflix show I would of burned through em all in the one sitting.

Yep, I would have done it in a few nights. Knocked myself out.

This show has so much going for it. They fit so much in an hour. The director obviously has a flair for brisk direction having seen Sin Nombre and Jane Eyre but this is really captivating and skillful. I love the scenery and the way it's shot. See the final scene with the birds and the church.
McConaughey is beating Brad Pitt at his own game in changing perceptions about his acting. I noticed it in Mud but I think it started around The Lincoln Lawyer and Bernie (will have to go and watch that). Now it seems to be peaking with Dallas Buyers Club and this. Some sort of roll he's on. The depth in his character is spectacular. Woody ain't bad either they play very well off each other. And the "throw down in the woods" they mentioned is going to be good you'd imagine. :D
The way in which the interview stuff is slowly revealing the characters is just fascinating. Loving this show :thumbsu:

Slow burn - yes
Sensational - yes

I also took a photo of the mistresses boobs, couldn't help myself, sent it to people who have no interest in seeing this show, I think they will watch now.:D

Ultra slow. Which I usually don't mind (big fan of boardwalk empire), but thought ep 2 was maybe a little too slow considering there are only 8 for the season. But as someone posted above, this show isn't really about the murder case, maybe I just need to alter my perceptions. Still enjoyable though.

For a drama dealing with such heavy subject matter, I find myself laughing at random moments quite a bit. Some of the faces Woody was pulling this ep and the entire scene with McConaughey getting chewed out by the Major were gold.
