HDFL Season 2025

IMO Borders would be a more attractive proposition than Nhill. E/A could join the party too.
and a lot of Apsley are already at Borders. I don't think E/A even play at Apsley anymore because of that. Borders actually play a couple of games at Apsley. It's kinda odd in a sense ... you've got KNT games being played in a town that has its name associated with a HDFL club!!!

Most clubs in the HDFNL would welcome Kaniva moving back over the border. No U14 or U17 stand alone football or U13 & U15 netball... don't travel to away games. Affects opposition gates etc.. Don't bring anything positive to the League IMO.

Rickee did you see your Kees post their 1st win for the year on the weekend? They looked to have a few back in, including Ben Lawson. Winnable games against Natimuk, Edenhope/Apsley & Taylors Lake to finish off the 1st round could get them back on track.

HB won't get another crack at Quanny until finals now. Could the Close boys, Jai Thompson fire one last shot before the dynasty falls?
It was awesome to post a first up win, especially against Rup. They are getting a few experienced blokes back and have targeted the next 3 games to really kick start something.

There's a lot of talk about doing it for the people around the club: the volunteers, the past players, the families, etc. It's such a welcoming and accepting place to be, I'm really hoping they can make it back into finals this year.

Not surprised the Saints got rid of Adi. His mindset was finals. Had major unrealistic expectations and the playing group was nowhere near those expectations. He would have been really hard on them and they wouldn't have liked it.

Saints will be out of the league next year. They wanna merge with Kaniva, but Kaniva want to head Nhill way. No way will Harrow merge with them so there isn't many viable options. They won't survive as a standalone team much longer.

Keep your ears open on Taylors Lake and Rupanyup re: merger. Talks going on behind the scenes.

I doubt rupanyup and taylor’s would merge

I liked what I heard from him in the couple of radio interviews I listened to, but the poor guy just didn't have the cattle. Who has taken over...a local guy? I hope you are wrong about the Saints next year but it does sound like interesting times ahead for the league.

Havent heard. I assume so. Having no cattle was his downfall. He talked it all up that its finals or bust. And finals were never happening.

KLU had 2 permit players previous week. Dylan Collis from Hay and McCarthy from Padthaway neither played yesterday. Josh Clayton played a fortnight ago and again yesterday. From what Im told there is efforts being made to recruit 1 if not 2 more still had 12 points up their sleeve yesterday. Pimp 37/40 so close to full strength.
Unveiling Tyler Roos tomorrow mid/onballer highly credentialled believe stiil in the hunt for 1 more recruit. They now IMO have the midfield strength to be in a position to kick winning scores against all sides. How far they go will depend on their defence. Treat them without respect at your own peril.

Swifts finally win a close game. Lose and their season was over. Great win.

Aiden Graveson was massive on loan.
I’m an old man with an old school mentality but why do clubs get players in for one off games? (Outside absolute marquee ex afl players that bring in the gate/ bar sales etc)

Heaps of clubs across both leagues do it but why?
What’s the point? Mercenaries are fair enough if you can qualify and play them in finals but outside that, what’s the point? You just rob a local player of senior experience?

Am I missing something?

Sometimes there may not be players playing good enough to play seniors.

In the Swifts case, this was win or die. This was an elimination final for them. If they lost, their season was pretty much over. So I can see why they brought in Graveson. Without him, they would have lost. At least now they have a chance to make finals assuming the four key players they had missing come back quick enough.

Sorry, still senseless.
If you’re not good enough to make finals with the list that represent the club in finals then you’re not good enough - which is fine. Give those games to your young players and accelerate their development.

Every current top 5 side has plenty of key players missing. swifts obviously don’t trust their depth.

So you are saying that if you are sitting on 16 points, equal with sixth spot, a game behind fourth spot, and only five positions make finals, and a harder fixture playing finals teams, compared to your opponent who plays shit teams to finish the year, you will risk falling a game behind to play someone that won't make a difference just to give him experience?

Swifts still may not make finals, but it's absolutely moronic if you don't do everything you can to win the most important game of the year in the context of your season.

Noradjuha - Loss
Rupanyup - Win
Edenhope - Win
Natimuk - Win
Laharum - Probably loss
Kalkee - Win
Harrow Balmoral - Probably loss
Pimpinio - Probably Loss

Kaniva

Noradjuha - Potential win
Natimuk - win
Rupanyup - win
Edenhope - win
Taylors Lake - win
Kalkee - win
Harrow Balmoral - potential win.

They have an easy five wins, and could upset Noradjuha or Harrow.

Had Swifts lost, they wouldn't be playing finals. So again, I put it to you, would you risk ****ing up your season just to give a guy some experience or would you do everything you can to win the game knowing the draws?]

Make finals, hope you get your key personnel back. Swifts are a dangerous team in finals with a full-strength team. I'd say they are better than Laharum and Pimpinio at full strength.
