HDMI Input

OK, I have a noob question. Im looking at upgrading my PS2 and 64cm CRT to a PS3 and 32in LCD. I already have a very good surround sound system. Will I be able to run all the sound output through the amp, or will only the PS3 be able to come through the amp and the HDTV through the TV speakers?

I assume its possible as the amp has composite inputs and the tv im looking at has composite output. Will much sound quality be lost using these cables?

If you want surround sound from your HDTV then you can use optical or coaxial out of the TV into your receiver.
For surround sound from the PS3, you will need to run either optical or HDMI from the PS3 into your receiver.

sounds like your TV is HD ready, as there is no reason to have HDMI IN if its standard definition.

you can get crt tv's that have hdmi inputs. HDMI isn't expensive to put into tv's, and its a very easy cabling solution, 1 cable instead of 3 or 5.

there are any number of panels that disagree

ie

NEC PXT-32XD3 32 Plasma TV Black with in-Built HD Digital Tuner 852 x 480 1200:1 Contrast Ratio HDMI & VGA inputs includes Desktop Stand & Stereo Speakers

so below SD 480 not 540 which is PAL + HDMI.

superseded models...
the original poster just said he just bought his LCD. Your ancient SD plasma's or CRT's aren't really of any relevance.
