After today's game i would almost find it impossible that Dustin Martin would even consider leaving to go play for GWS in a couple years time.

Its days like today that show just what this club has in its favour and the passion and history associated with it which GWS will never have! Having legends like KB present the jumper to Ben Griffiths today is just one example.

The song, the supporters, the youthful exuberance atm! Whatever GWS offer him isn't worth what we can offer him as a club. If he ends up being as good as we all expect that he will be, he will make his money with us, he doesn't need to go there!

Go Tiges! :)

We basically pay no money to anyone. Thus, we can pay the young blokes whatever they want to stay. Won't be an issue. Cool down turbo. if Dustin goes anywhere, I will personally run upon the field and surprise sex him, the first time they play richmond.

We've got cash, members and a supporter base a lot of clubs would die for. I understand you're point, but Martin isn't playing like a kid with a lot on his mind so to speak. With Simmonds retiring and McMahon most likely to go, that's another approx $650k in the bucket to spend (and if Cuzzy doesn't go around, there's a bit more). So if you think we can't offer something substancial, you'd be wrong.

The Kid is a footballer first and foremost, and as such would rather play blockbuster games in front of 60-90,000 people than 20,000 in a Sydney Derby, would be extremely surprised if money was his motivating factor. will obviously get a bumper pay rise but wont be going anywhere. Tiges list heading in the right direction, GWS will be a mile behind for the next decade.

The bloke will get financial security where-ever he plays.

GWS and Gold Coast will find that young players with talent wont go for the extra dollars and the only players interested are the ones with 3 years of football left and feel they haven't really capitalised financially on their football careers.

Sheeds' younger player strategy has logic but will fail.

I dont hold any fears that the new clubs will get any of our players.

This is not the concern though.

Yes we have the money.

But if we pay Martin anything his management wants then we will have other players quite upset at the fact they are not making as much.

Add to that other players who will ask for the same amount. If we start bumping up everyone's pay at will, then we are paying them more than they are worth and it will **** us up in the future when we gather a few more good players together and will have no option but to lose a few or pass the salary cap.

If i had to put an amount on Martin, I'd say atleast 500,000 a year. If McMahon is making 350,000 then ****...Jake Kng should make atleast 400,000!

If he was going to get his nomination for rising star (even tho he cant win) surely it would be this week especially after a win.
he can still win only got a reprimand you can still win rs after a reprimand.

And he had 21 touches in the wet 4 tackles 17cp and 11 clearances
and the melb kid only had 26 at 69% de in the drylets see him do it a few times dustin deserves it since he has been there abouts all season ffs melkshan got the nod after a 16 touch game

Are we sure?

Richmond midfielder Dustin Martin is free to play this week after accepting an early guilty plea on a rough conduct charge.
Martin was charged with a Level One bumping or making forceful contact from front-on offence against Josh Kennedy, Sydney Swans, during the second quarter of the match against the Sydney Swans last Saturday night.
He will carry 93.75 points towards his future record, can still be nominated for Rising Star award, but will be ineligible to win it.

Surely the fact that when were up and going we will be playing at the MCG in front of 70-80000 , 41000+ members already and were a proud club with a ton of tradition and some talented kids is enough for him to not consider GWS, granted the money they pay him would be sensational but im not sure how appealing playing infront of 14k at blacktown is gonna be too this kid, his gonna be rich either way, im tipping he will be a rich Tiger

yeah it could be Daffy, Cambo, Knights and can't remember who the fourth tiger was all over again, but we will make a substancial offer. Also remember in this, it's apparently Nixon going to the media sprouting this crap of the reported figure.

Dusty lived in Sydney for a couple of years but he's from Castlemaine. Having his north/central Vic 'neighbours' like Lids, Astbury, Dea, Collins and Connors as teammates will make him feel right at home.

Castlemaine and Ky (Lids) are a fair way apart rad.

Pretty sure Dusty isnt eligible because his points total was over 100, equaling a 1 week ban. He only got it downgraded because of the early guilty plea.
