Headland worth it?

I read something in the papers last week that the eagles are in negotiations to get another 1st rd pick. They are then planning to ontrade that and our current #10 pick for Headland.

Now my question is, is it worth giving up two 1st rd picks for headland? We could potentially pick up another Judd and Sampi with those two picks. On the otherhand, Headland wouldn't need anymore development and could step right into our team.

I really don't know if its worth going for it. Especially if we get Chick to go with those two 1st rd picks.

Absolutely worth it - but depends on who we have to give up to get that other early pick.

1) Winning premierships is about building a team and having the majority of the players peaking within the same time frame. We could draft someone with pick 10, but the chances are that they won't be an elite player until another few years (if at all). If we got Headland, he would be in a similar development stage as Gardiner, Kerr, Judd, Wirra etc. The chances are that this group of players, along with Cousins will form a nucleus over the next couple of years that will establish the Eagles as a premiership threat. This year's #10 pick wouldn't likely play a part in this scenario.

2) The draft isn't that strong this year

3) We have a heap of early draft picks still waiting to develop (Mcdougall, Gaspar, Seaby. Sampi, Lynch etc).


** I believe that the only player the Eagles should consider giving away their first pick (#10) for is Headland.

Hype aside.. yes, he's worth it. Hype aside, Headland is the single best player on offer, and two midrange top10 picks would be a reasonable deal for us.

Yes he is on this years form. Will he repeat it year after year?
Who do you lot rate better on this site, Headland or Judd?
If I could choose for Port I would go for Judd.

i would go Judd over Headland too.

I dont think Headland had that much a bit season than Judd, and Judd is so much younger and in his first season.

Yes i would keep Judd over Headland too. Simply more talented IMO.

By the way, is Headland a good kick? IMO he struggles to kick further than 50/55m.
